I'm on Holiday in Boca Raton Florida. Can anyone let me know a few good shops or reefers I can check out while I'm down here from NYC that sell nice coral.

The famous World Wide Corals but its in Orlando - 3 hour drive. Day trip???

Come Check out The Coral Connect where you can find a beautiful variety of Corals and more!
Located at 5931 Ravenswood Rd. Unit A20 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

The barrier reef is an ok shop in Boca, probably not the best coral spot though.

Blue Earth Corals is about 30 min north of you off lantana road, they are probably the best coral selection I can think of in the area. Good selection from softies, lps, and acros

Edit: I live about 30 min north of boca so anything further south im unfamiliar with.

South Florida sucks for coral, all the good shops are in Orlando and some in Tampa and Tallahassee.

Try Aquatic Jewels and Hydra Aquatic, they are both on Stirling Road right off of the I-95 exit which is about 30 minutes (except rush hour) from Boca Raton.

I know that Aquatic Jewels gets regular shipments of coral from Australia.

I have lived in this state all my life and been in the hobby for 15 years and the quality and quantity of the stuff in Miami does not even come close to what we have in Orlando and other parts of the state, so yeah In comparison they suck. There’s private sellers like Pirates reef etc.. who have better selections for coral and don’t have a store front

Well..., I’ve lived in Miami all my life, I bought my first coral here in 1995 and still got it, a pearl bubble. That was probably long before any shop existed in Orlando or Tampa . Still trying to figure out what makes south Florida suck for corals, be specific if you’re gonna make a statement like that.

Alright, straight up selection especially sps and aquacultured corals. If you want run of the mill softy and lps Chop shopped then south Florida is your bag. But that could be said for pretty much anywhere, any crappy store can buy large wild caught orders and jam pack their store. Not any store can aquaculture quality pieces and have great fish selection. Once you pass fort pierce Fl on the east coast that level ends.

I’m down near Tallahassee. What are some of he shops nearby?

I live in Broward (Close to Miami)

The LFS here suck, the corals are extremely expensive for what you get and the quality sucks. The prices of dry goods are all 20% marked up.

The stores in South Miami are a tiny bit better but still very overpriced for the price of the frag for the size. I wouldn't recommend buying anything for the stores. Best bet is to get in touch with a local.

Just because were in the south by the beach doesn't mean we have quality corals or quality fish stores...

I highly recommend going to either WWC or TSA or just buying off their eBay page and having it delivered youll find much better prices and quality.

Im also part of a reef club that has members selling anything you could want at 50% off and big sizes... guess im spoiled.

I checked out high tide. It’s closed until January 2nd. Super sad cause it looks awesome peeking through the door.
