Reef Shops in South Florida

Hydra aquatics, aquatic jewels, aquarium show, blue seas, exotic aquatic.

only one I can vouche for is hydra, the QT their fish right in public and show the steps and when the fish will be available

Yes the tanks have dates written on them but many will argue that 2 weeks is not enough time for a true quarantine.

Alright, straight up selection especially sps and aquacultured corals. If you want run of the mill softy and lps Chop shopped then south Florida is your bag. But that could be said for pretty much anywhere, any crappy store can buy large wild caught orders and jam pack their store. Not any store can aquaculture quality pieces and have great fish selection. Once you pass fort pierce Fl on the east coast that level ends.
I have lived in this state all my life and been in the hobby for 15 years and the quality and quantity of the stuff in Miami does not even come close to what we have in Orlando and other parts of the state, so yeah In comparison they suck. There’s private sellers like Pirates reef etc.. who have better selections for coral and don’t have a store front
Michael I’d be careful what you say about Orlando. I drove up 3 hrs to a store up there for a so called Mystery wrasse, you guys up there don’t know **** up there and it’s pretty sad.

I don’t live there, I commute from south Florida as well. But stores like tsa, and wwc etc, are the best in the country. No need to be careful, just stating the obvious.

I went last week to wwc just to check it out and they seemed great but when you LOOK the fish are either dead (unless they use dead fish to feed live fish) or sick. Some could be seen scratching themselves on sand or rock. One thing I have learned is to check the fish in the tanks before buying. I have not learned enough about corals yet. I am looking for good store to buy fish.

Knowing better, I gave them a try. I bought 6 fish, 1 died overnight and 2 have some spots. I have seen they are great for corals, maybe not so much for fish.

I checked out high tide. It’s closed until January 2nd. Super sad cause it looks awesome peeking through the door.
Hey try out Aquarium Show 2111 N University Dr, Sunrise, FL 33322. Phone: (954) 908-5535. E-mail: [email protected]. Very good place they got Live rocks and Dry Live rocks.
