Anyone use the Reefbrite Halide LED combo?Just checking on any heat issue you have with the fixture. How do you like the fixture?

I've never used it, but I have seen (and touched) a Reefbrite halide unit at MACNA. It was warm, but I could keep my hand on it no problem... cooler than some T5 units.

Edit: That was the top of the unit... no real idea what kind of heat was being put out under the actual bulb. Didn't put my hand under the light... for all I know the unit is highly insulated?

Thanks for the info trying to find out how these fixtures compare for heat from older fixtures from 10 years ago.

How did it look like with corals?

No extreme heat from them

Get the single ended bulbs and their ballast

Watch ur Corals grow

More bulbs and I have had problems with there double ended

I run SE Radiums on my 220 and DE bulbs on my 60 cube. No real difference in growth but I prefer the Radium look. Going to try a Hamilton 20k bulb and see how it compares.

I have the 36” hybrid and love it. I modified it by replacing 2 of the 4 XHO’s with their T5’s. Awesome unit and runs cooler than any other MH’s I’ve used in the past. I also use the SE Radiums. JP

LFS by me has two 15” with the led on a 90 gallon and he has great color and great growth with the radiums. His are in an open top hood to help with heat. I have a single lumen bright on my 80 gallon SCA and it is not bad for heat.

I had one for many years. 48” with 2 x 150w mh. It was a great light with no issues.

However, to replace the bulbs was no small task. I had to very carefully pull the whole unit down, it is heavy, and clean, unscrew etc. it was a several hour process to complete.

After a while it started to deteriorate at the t5 junction and I was certain it would just one day drop in the water. I was a noob and stopped putting the long plastic shield over the t5’s and the ends weren’t sealed. The shields got so dirty all the time from salt creep and it affected lighting etc.

Got tired of cleaning them because I travel so much for work. Switched to LEDs.

Light performance other than that was outstanding!!

U have pics on how u modified this?

Here is a photo showing it's current configuration. 2 XHO's (1 on each outer end), then a T5, and then the MH's. That is a moon light in between the MH's. JP

Just curious why did you think you needed T-5s also with the halides and LEDS?

Nicely done! I don't see a 48" option. I miss halide but not the power bill.
