I think i know the answer do you need a ballast for each bulb?

Here is a photo showing it's current configuration. 2 XHO's (1 on each outer end), then a T5, and then the MH's. That is a moon light in between the MH's. JP

Very nice. How did you secure the t5 to fixture?

I mounted the ends to the holes where the XHO strips (removed ones) went. Went to Lowes and used thin sheet metal to fabricate a piece for that. The 36" T5s are the perfect length for the hybrid fixture.

What’s the width of this puppy? I am trying to think of a way to light a five foot by 30 inch tank

I’ve been using three 15” pendants over a 180 for almost a year now. I use their ballasts and twin-arc 14k bulbs. The fixture is mounted 13 inches off the water.

I find they run warmer than what I expected and do increase my water temp, especially in the summer months where I had to keep my canopy off most of the time. My ballasts are installed in a different room so I’m just talking about fixture/bulb temp. This fall has been pretty good as the temp has dropped and I haven’t needed to use my ac for about a week (Maine).

I love the fixtures and the blanket of light that evenly covers my tank. Heat management is a compromise I’m willing to make because the corals seem to do well under them.

Yes, you need a ballast for each fixture.
