Where do you see yourself in this hobby 3-5 years from now?

For me, Yes- larger tank yet and in alignment with latest sensible technology

Hard to say. I have 5 fully stocked tanks: 2 reefs, 1 fowlr, and 2 frag tanks. Most people in my area are into freshwater, and there is no lfs in my county. I think I may actually start downsizing and go to 2 or 3 tanks, and stop actively fragging coral.

Very hard to say. As everyone would like, to still be in the hobby.

This is the first time since going to college that I have actually been in an area longer than 3 years.

So if new jobs or unexpected life events doesn't get in the way, I want a LARGE tank (300+ gallons) or build a house to accommodate that.

I'm pretty much locked in as far as tank size.. I would need a bigger house to support a tank larger than my 120.

My goal is to get a frag tank setup in the next year as many of my corals will be needing thinning soon.

Well the last 2 of my children will probably have been moved out by then . I’m always contemplating a tank upgrade, so perhaps. Not to big, I have to lug 5 gallon buckets of rodi water up from the basement. I’m thinking a 60 gallon with a 40 gallon sump. That could change from day to day and I would have to convince the Mrs. because some furniture will have to be pulled from the living room.

Would love to be at a point where I could grow corals well enough to sell them and have a system nice and stable for some wholesale maybe?

Would love to be at a point in my life where I could afford to do this without putting my family at a financial risk/loss. . .

I know this is probably every new reefers dream. . . but hey. . . if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

I’m on a 5 year plan to upgrade from my 65 to a 120.

5 year plan is basically just seeking approval from my wife lol.

Stay single. After 20 years mine is iffy. If it goes so does my tank at least for a while.

In 5 years I'd like to upgrade and add in a 180-200ish aquarium. Probably consolidate my 90G and maybe my 55G into the big tank on top whatever else I can fit. Maybe turn the 55G into a Nem only tank. My wife wants either a seahorse tank or a jellyfish tank. LOL. She understands the issues both present but says she's sure I'll figure it out.

Hopefully in another 5 years I'll have enough figured out (mostly due to failure lol) to keep a mixed reef tank where it needs to be to be as nice as some of the big systems I see on here.

My ultimate goal is to build my next house around a really large reef system. Have everything plumbed in to support auto water changes, and have the sump, testing space, frag tank, QT tank, dosing and everything else remote from the DT. Sort of a almost unlimited budget approach regarding setup, equipment and of course the stock of the tank. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

My hopes is with a mature mixed reef that’s 6-8 years old and thriving with some nice large colonies growing round the back, sides and front. And also not looking quite so empty on the right side.

And for my nano, a similar situation;
A nice mature 3-5 year old tank that’s thriving with nice sized colonies of (rare) SPS.
