There is NO motivation behind this question of the day except a good conversation. This was totally brought on by my own experience and thought process.

Two days ago I was totally enjoying washing and rinsing my filter socks!! Sticking my hand and arm into that slimy nasty mess to turn them inside out was such a pleasure! NOT!! Ok I'm totally joking! I HATE IT! But I really was cleaning them and I really do hate it so it got me thinking about how awesome it would be to just trash them after a few weeks and have new ones waiting for me at the front door every single month subscription style! Thre are so many things you can get monthly subscriptions for these days like air filters, your dog's food, clothing, printer ink and the list goes on. We even have some companies in the reefing industry doing coral subscriptions. But what about dry goods and consumables? Let's talk about that today!

If you could get a bi-weekly, monthly or even quarterly subscription of reefing dry goods/consumables what would you want?

Consumables such as 2 part, salt, or other dosing chemicals would be a good option. It's something you're going to use to keep the tank going.

I like to stock up, I just hate when I'm out all of a sudden and I debate buying another years supply or just enough to get me through the next month or so. So with that being said a subscription would probably be handy but I'm unlikely to sign up for one to be honest.

My motivation to stock up is either sale price or I have extra money so I'll take care of something for a while.

A fish food subscription could be kind of nice. If every couple months when I finished off my pack of LRS, there was a new one being delivered, it would save me a lot of trouble. I agree that supplies for two part on a subscription would be nice too.

Not Really:

Just try to hold off for sales (all over the web), and then, stock up in bulk.

I don’t typically like subscribing to things, usually they either run out before you get the new stuff, or the opposite and you start accumulating too much.

I do get some hob filter cartridges from amazon on their subscription service. Saves about .50$ on a box, but I don’t get enough, I have to periodically buy another box before they send another subscribed package, about every 2 months I guess.

Chemical additives (tripic marin all for reef, salt, Kalk)
Frozen food (if given with a nice discount)
Refrigerated food (I’m looking at you Reef nutrition)
Filter media
Coral glue

I like to wait for sales and stock up on dry goods. Try to buy enough salt for a year in one shot. Same for 2 part.

The only thing I can think of would be ro/di system filters and resin. But thats not totally consistent as far as when they're needed. Don't always use the same amount of water month to month through the system.

the problem i see is that a subscription is set and forget. I naturally isolate so the fewer things i need personal contact to accomplish is attractive, hence the need to actually call or visit humans to get stuff could be considered therapeutic for me. like answering questions and asking them online is better than solo research. Seeing my LFS people or my reef club vs chatting on line... whoa not going further down that path, lol

I already get most of my regular consumables via recurring subscription through amazon ….. for the tank that's salt, polyfilter pads and a few chemicals. As long as you pay attention, it's easy enough to adjust frequency as needed.

Maybe on 6 month supplies of trident reagent any Bi-monthly of Redsea AB+
other wise no

None of my consumables disappear monthly. It would have to be quarterly at least and come with a significant enough discount to be worth the trouble. I've tried Amazon's 'subscription' options and always spent more time managing them than the discount justified.

I don't like auto delivery or auto bill pay. Now frozen food the shipping is the expensive part can't do a one month supply.

Here’s my issue with that, I have a system in place. I don’t want to change it based on what I receive randomly. I have had the WWC Coral club which is awesome but My tank is pretty full.

I can't think of anything I go through fast enough for monthly renewals, maybe auto shipping based on expiration date for testing reagents? Other than that I shop deals and stock up as I can.

Anyone heard of mystery reef box? You don’t get to pick what you get every month but they put random stuff and send it to you every month.
