Just a quick question off topic, Someone just left a 'money' smilie on my above post, what does that particular smilie mean????

Honestly I have filter sock on my amazon prime subscription lol. Every month I get 8 new ones and toss 4 nasty ones. But this would be a great idea for not just socks!

I think it’s a good idea but I don’t go through enough dry goods to warrant setting up a subscription nor do I might running to the lfs to pick it up. As for a mystery reef box I just do see enough new items being made to make it interesting, not to mention I feel a lot of it I wouldn’t need.

My lfs kind of does something like this with filter socks... I bring in a bucket of dirty ones every month and they exchange them for clean ones. They have a dedicated washing machine that they use for customers socks and their maintenance accounts socks, and then they have bins sorting them by size/manufacturer. It’s a lot cheaper than buying new socks and I don’t even have to wash them myself.

Solid maybe. There are quite a few things I head down to my LFS for, even if it's a little more spendy than online... just to support my LFS. For the stuff they don't carry, sure... but most of that is bulk-sized and I don't need it monthly.
A subscription-based water change? I'm in.

I do salt every month. 200 gallons. If it gets here and I have some left I know i didn't keep up with my water changes like I should. Usually I'm just right or a little under and I wait a day or two longer on my last water change

There is NO motivation behind this question of the day except a good conversation. This was totally brought on by my own experience and thought process.

Two days ago I was totally enjoying washing and rinsing my filter socks!! Sticking my hand and arm into that slimy nasty mess to turn them inside out was such a pleasure! NOT!! Ok I'm totally joking! I HATE IT! But I really was cleaning them and I really do hate it so it got me thinking about how awesome it would be to just trash them after a few weeks and have new ones waiting for me at the front door every single month subscription style! Thre are so many things you can get monthly subscriptions for these days like air filters, your dog's food, clothing, printer ink and the list goes on. We even have some companies in the reefing industry doing coral subscriptions. But what about dry goods and consumables? Let's talk about that today!

If you could get a bi-weekly, monthly or even quarterly subscription of reefing dry goods/consumables what would you want?

Food
Salt
Filter cartridges/media
Supliments
etc.

I'm a subscribe and save addict--have all my household items on it and very rarely set foot into a brick and mortar store anymore. I use it less so for fish stuff and just order things online as needed except I have salt on subscription through Chewy. I find it convenient because you can tell it to ship early if you burn through your stock faster than expected or skip the delivery if needed. My consumption is pretty consistent so I don't do this often unless I get some new critters and have to run a QT tank or two. I don't do monthly deliveries though. I have it set up to deliver a few boxes every 3 months all at once...and then I make my significant other carry all the heavy boxes to the basement for storage.

If frozen food didn't cost so much to ship I'd want that on a delivery subscription.

Anyone heard of mystery reef box? You don’t get to pick what you get every month but they put random stuff and send it to you every month.
What kind of stuff? Dry goods? Live stuff? Mystery box sounds fun.

I kinda like going to my lfs to stock up. Got some real nice guys & gals running real nice stores with lots of real nice corals and fish and stuff.

90% my dry goods from net. I try ordering way before I run out of it. one competitor lets you do subscription either 3 months 6 months or longer for items. I did use them a lot but the way they treat their workers little by little I'm starting to use the other competitor. Even though it takes a little longer to get supplies. Also I lean towards free shipping. Example I'm able to get Instant Ocean salt 200 gallons for $37 and change. for me to do any type of subscription I got to have a big savings on the merchandise or I stay with my original vendors.
if one is treated good and is comfortable with your original vendors very difficult to cut that habit. And buy from someone else. Unless there's a really good discount involved.

Water testing and frozen food!!
