Reeflix's boring build.

Corals bleach from too much light. Like @fishguy242 said, start low and ramp up a little each day. 25% is a good start, up to that 50% over the next day or two.

How many watts are you running? What is your "normal" percentage?
Oh yeah! That’s right! Bleaching comes for too much light! Well, something happened to the coral during the blackout, here’s my lighting schedule

Imagine sitting in the complete dark for 3 days and then the sun hitting you directly in your eyes. That's basically every cell in that coral and they can't blink.
BTW all of the corals seemed to perk up really quick once I turned on the lights. I’ll still do it, but they just seem really happy (considering everything else)

So I'd probably cut everything down to 1/4 of your regular schedule for a day or two, then bump it up to about half of your regular schedule for a day or two. Do you have an acclimation setting? You can always use that...

Yes I have that

Yeah, but too much, too quickly can stress them and cause bleaching. They could throw their zoox and that could be catastrophic.

Well, I can’t find the acclimation schedule but I have a 50% button

Looking around for everything else
Edit: I am shut out of everything until after the 50% is done

I totally agree! I was just so shocked at how quickly that hammer opened up! I thought that is was going to take forever to get back to norm

#Cronies when would you start doing WC again? no sign of dino so would it be safe to do one in a couple days?

I would skip it untill numbers are stable or other elements start to deplete. You want to keep it dirty for a bit

Don't follow my lead but I haven't done a water change in a couple of months...
i just did a 10% on the 310 for the first time since it was set up in April. The only reason was to replenish the trace elements. no other reason...

@Reeflix what is the purpose of your water change? What are you hoping to accomplish? In my opinion, water changes should only be done with a goal in mind. not just for the sake of doing them.

In your case, you need to let your nutrients rise and stabilize. I would hold off on any water changes. but that is just me.

By a couple I mean I might have done 5 or 6 total 5 gallon water changes since I set the tank up in July 2022. I rarely do them, and like @F i s h y said, it's just to get those trace elements up some.

it would be to not let toxins build up in the tank and replenish trace elements, i know that doing water changes can be unnecessary and that this is a stupid reason (not when i need to not do one) but i feel better when one is done lol.
