ReefPops 39 Gallon

I'm sure I did. I have kind of been battling it in certain sections for awhile. Just suck it up, but it comes back. I figured having the crowded sandbed didn't help. I'm going to do some extra maintenance this weekend maybe turn up my vortech this weekend to add a little more flow. Hopefully it goes away. Not really bothering anything, just annoying. Same thing with the strange green algae. It's in one corner of the tank, doesn't spread or bother anything, just don't really want it there. :)
having more flow should help. I think just stick to your schedule and tank should recover. at least that's what I'm doing for now with my algae issues. ;)

That's my thought too. For years I would freak out, try crazy things and throw my tank out of whack. Now I just keep it in check and hope it cycles out. I'm going to be trying some FX pro as a replacement for my chemipure so hope that works. I've been using it in the 45 and it keeps my water clear. Think it's time for the switch in this tank. Plus I need to get a new filter sock on there. That will hopefully help!

No update is good update I suppose. Still working on the green algae, but the cyano is definitely down. I did notice some strange color change on my convict chalice. It baffled me because it had been in the same place since I put it in, which has been almost a year when the tank got setup. It still has great color, but near the eyes it was a little lighter. I had no idea what the reason was until yesterday when I realized that during my last bulb change I moved my purple bulb up one slot, which is now more directly over the convict. I'll be moving the bulb back today and hopefully that'll make a difference and it will go back to normal soon enough. It's only of my favorites as it is one of the real deal convicts with the orange. Such intricate details and coloring.

I hear ya' there! I hope that fixes the issue as well. Let us know!

Yeah, me too. I will keep you all posted. It actually only looks bleached when the lights are off. Otherwise it just looks a little faded when the lights are on. I barely even noticed at first. I scared myself yesterday by reading the tragedies of the bleaching convicts and that of course does not help. It's in low light and I was contemplating moving it to shade, but I'm hesitant to do that just because it was doing so well and I know the move could make it worse. I doubled checked and got him in May/June of last year so he's been trucking along and doing amazing in my system for 8 months. I'm guessing that the system might be a little out of whack just because I moved a bunch of the corals out and since I had the cyano...I guess we shall see. As with everyone, I hate when established corals go south, there are so many factors to contemplate that I struggle with how to handle it. I also know convicts are finicky so that only makes it worse.

New equipment has been purchased for the 39. We recently purchased an ATO. It's the Tunze Osmolator and will be putting it on the tank soon. Just need a reservoir and also need to make sure I am going to keep the current sump I have. I have a limited amount of room, but I'm really liking the sump on my zero edge 45 so am wondering if that might be a good purchase to add to the 39. Updates on the decision to come soon!

I really like the Tunze Osmo. I'm sure you'll like yours too. good luck on the sump decision. finding one that works for your needs is always tricky.. at least IME. ;)

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll like it a lot. Especially in this tank. The way this sump is, my pump is often impacted by the evap if I'm bad and don't top off when I should. That's the main reason I wanted this. That's also the main reason I am looking at the alternative sump. I really like the one on my 45. The design just really seems to work. I'm going to measure tonight to see if it's replacement. I have such a small footprint under the tank though so my options are very limited. I'm excited to see how it pans out.

My pictures don't do this guy justice, but here's my trach as it's digesting.

Love it... Such a sick piece! Glad it went to someone who can enjoy it!

Me too. It's by far one of my favorite corals ever purchase. I was originally nervous because I have killed every other trach I had, but this one is healthy, growing and strong. It even puts up with my clowns trying to host it :)

A little out of focus, but a cool catch.

Wow Chrissie, those are nice. Are you keeping the water cooler for them?

$$ Nice!!

Thanks. I love them and were worth every penny IMO. They are some of the coolest fish. The best is when they exhibit mating behavior. I'll have a post a pic I have of that. It's cool to watch them swim together.

Thanks Brett. My tank is kept at 77-78 degrees and I've never had any issues. In my old tank I had a single one for three years in about the same temp (he didn't die, I didn't keep him when I took the tank down :squigglemouth:). They seem to do just fine around there. I do have a chiller so temp stays pretty consistent year round. I've had these two since the beginning of July.

Wyoming White Pair (and female candy bass...so funny to see how they are pretty much bigger than she is)
