ReefQueen's Mushroom Max

Well I made some good progress today. Originally I had planned on having the tank sideways on the stand to keep toddler fingers out of the filtration area

But it just didn't look right, so I turned it the "normal" way and with the back plate on I think it'll be too tall for him to reach...for now. I added 20 pounds of live oolite, and roughly 15 pounds of base rock. I plan on pulling some rock from the 90 to finish off the 'scape. I programmed the prime a few days ago so that was ready to go.

I finished filling her up and got everything running. Now I'm going to throw a sponge that's been brewing in the 90's sump in and call it a night.

It should be clear enough to mess around with the rock scape some more when I get home from work tomorrow. I am looking forward to moving everything over so I can get the biocube off of my kitchen counter;)

The tank was a good bit clearer when I got home today.

I am testing small amounts of ammonia and nitrites, and that sponge is has been chilling in the 90's sump for a few months, so it should help things along. I only wish it would fit in the back lol. I am kinda digging the original scape, but I threw a few rocks in there to speed things up. We'll see how I feel about them when the rocks from the 8 gallon are in.

I have not been keeping up with this thread as much as I had planned lol. Much has happened in the few short weeks since I filled the tank. I moved all of my livestock in, removed the giant sponge and added a little more rock from the 90 (that I hate and will eventually take out), added an mp-10 and picked up a few more corals. I've decided to make the little island a zoa rock, so grabbed 4 more zoas and 2 more shrooms the other day.

I have a 9 year old with a new biocube. It started with Octonauts and a trip to a nice saltwater fish store.

I've learned that many reefers kids seem to love octonauts, it must be in our blood lol.

Let's play a game.

What's in the bag?

Jaime and Erin, you aren't allowed to play since you already know:p

That is no fair!!! I want to play
Noooo! You already know what they are!

And noooo to everyone else too lol. I'll try and think of a hint that won't give it away;)

Ok the hint is....

It is a pair of something adorable that should be comfortable in this size tank their entire lives:)

I will also mention that I have been wanting a pair for a very long time!

Vegimals. Sorry, mom joke.
