I’ve found with my build thread that a good amount of people are following and liking posts, but rarely actually post in the thread unless I ask a direct question, looking for feedback. I think a lot of people don’t want to take away from the thread by interjecting a bunch of comments. Also I’ve noticed that a lot of build threads don’t gain steam until they’re wet. I’m following along.

This forum is great and along the building process there are always some issues or questions that pop up where someone here can help a hand.

I have been following since the "... 100 Gallon Frag tank" title was posted.

Spent some time tonight installing the wire management and routing. Have a couple hours of plumbing to finish and wiring tomorrow. Shooting to fill with water on Saturday morning to check for leaks.

So truth be told, this is my first tank... I'm going to start with the easy stuff, learn, learn, learn, make lots of mistakes, learn more, make more mistakes, and hopefully work my way up to SPS. I've got four Kessil 360's on a 60" tank so should have plenty of light. I've got what I believe is good equipment, so I can only blame myself if/when I kill stuff.

You are taking your time so you are good to make a great finish.

First tank?! I started with a glass box with a hang on filter and skimmer. This was before people were successful at keeping sps, nevermind fragging. What a way to begin. Curious why you would start with a frag tank instead of using that beautiful tank as a display. Most people think of Reef Savvy tanks as dream builds. Great work so far! My wife would kill me if i put fish stuff on the table. I even had to buy a second fridge to keep pods, phyto, and frozen foods. Keep the thread going we love build threads here on r2r.

The other two tanks I’ve got being built are ReefSavvy as well. The frag tank ended up being the first one done and I’ve been dying to get into the hobby for years.

Got tap water in it. Tested for leaks. As always, had a few unions that needed some persuasive wrenching.

Water is in, warm, and correct salinity. Put a few pieces of rock inside that’s been curing for my big tank for the last 8 weeks. Hope to get a fish a QT in the next couple weeks and put in the DT tank after. A Frag swap is coming to my area around Valentines Day so hopefully will grab a few pieces then. Until then, try and keep parameters somewhat in the correct range and not screw anything up too badly. Any advice for me?

Looking good.
Your tank will start cycling. It will create ammonia which will convert in nitrite and later in nitrate.
In the next days check for ammonia.
Your rocks may be cured but a couple of those cycles are always the case.
If testing does not show any ammonia you may add it manually to get the big cycle going.
Just make sure that when you add fish, the nitrate is not too high.
It is a waiting game and time is in your favour. Good luck.
