For those of you that are using clams, do you just crack them open, rinse them and set them in the tank? How long can I leave the clam in a 10g quarantine before it becomes an issue?

Sorry for butting in , but I have a Potter's angel that is being picky as well.

Freeze them for at least 24 hrs, thaw & crack one open and remove if not eaten within 12 hrs.

I have heard that Easy Reefs Masstick is really good for getting finicky fish to eat, have seen several places where people said they used it to get e.g. Copperbands eating. It mixes up to a gel that you stick to the glass or to rocks so it encourages natural grazing behavior. E.g. see

Any update on your regal? I have a regal that is on day 4 going day 5 without eating. Came direct from Sea Dwelling Creatures. I have tried PE mysis, frozen brine, live brine, live black worms, fresh clam, frozen clam on half shell, pellets, purple nori, and masstick. No luck yet. Gonna keep trying. I still have some squid to try. Fish is very shy when I enter the room, very active when I’m not in the room. I haven’t seen him have much interest in any foods. The closest that I’ve noticed was the masstick on a clam shell, which I’ll attach to this. How long can it go without actually eating? He has no signs of any illness and is in an in medicated qt. Thanks for all and any advice.

Hi, the fish ended up succumbing to disease, it showed interest in eating but failed to eat enough to sustain itself. Passing away probably on day 8 . If I were to try again I would try angelfish mix foods, fresh seafood and live rock with sponges or urchins to at least get it comfortable in a new environment.
Surprised people are reading this nearly 6 years later
