If I wanted to replace all my rock, would i have to cycle my tank again? Wharf would be the best way of doing it? The reason I'm asking is because i habe colonial hydroids, and I want to get rid of them.

To get rid of the hydroids, do I need to change the sand also,
No. Gotta pic of them?

You are correct. They burrow into the then Rock.
It might help to run a cheap canister filer with a lot of floss and and also carbon and gfo when you pull the rock. It'll keep dust and funk down.

Yea. That's a bummer.
Yep pull the rock and dry it.

Cycle the new stuff.

It might help in the new set up to run a bit more mechanical filtration.
Hydroids love particulates. Skimmers actually aren't that good of getting rid of them.
Do you use a lot of coral foods. Roids , coral frenzy ? They like that too

I stopped feeding my coral altogether, but resently started again. I feed reef nutrition oyster feast, and a pinch of reef roads. I feed my fish pellets. I also put in a few algae wafers every day for my Tang and midas blenny.

Oh noooo I have these in my fuge. I thought they were a good thing :(

I guess I'm going to stop feeding coral food and hope they don't take over.

Replacing 600lbs of live rock is not an option for me

Eww. Well , let's see em first. I have a lot of big feather dusters in my fuge that look similar

Could be jellyfish.

Here's a video.

@Roy 9121 I think you should replace your sand if you're going to replace your rock. Sand is pretty inexpensive and I recommend going with the dry sand that you washed really well. You can cycle a tank extremely fast if you use a product like Bio-spira. I have had a lot of success with using that product and adding ammonia with a fuel source like vodka. I was able to add fish and coral pretty quickly and had no losses.

Those are a different type of hydroid. These are colonial hydroids.
Some spread by sending out the things you see on the glass. It's cthe medusa stage. Real jellyfish breed the same way.
To make it more fun there are hydroids that look almost exactly like a feather duster and and also send out hydroids. Have have some of those and 3-4 others.

It pay money some day to see that in my tank.
That's pretty darn big and developed to be a the medusal stage of a hydroid. But I def have not seen it all.

@KJ here's a good one.

Since hydroid hitchhiking is unavoidable, they will just get back in the replaced tank I vote just kill these there are threads from TW on it

These guys can be treated imo.
