I had a Lifegard 5000 return pump that quit working this morning. Took it apart and cleaned and still not working. Looking to get a new return pump and i hear the Mag's are all the rage. It's gotta pump up about 5' to my DT. I think a Mag Drive 12 will accomplish what i need. Suggestions, thoughts?

Btw, your flow pumps should be enough for your tank for today or tomorrow but hang a air stone in there for some air exchange or move your pumps up a bit in order to move the surface water for you with air.
That's a reason that I have a backup pump, as they always go out on days you don't want them to go out.

I have been using the Eheim pumps for a while and really like them. But there are others that are apparently good as well.

Okay thanks for your help! So you think a Mag 12 is too much then?

Not to much but it might be you have to dial it back a bit.
You want a gentle flow through your sump and not create a river.
I have a Vectra L1 and it's dialed back a good amount for my 200 gallon.
I think I get about 1000 gallon per hour through my sump as we speak.
The flow in my tank is done by my 5 MP40's QD.

Diesel has a point on flow through the sump. Filtration only works if it can actually turn over the water that is passing through it. I have a Vectra L1 on my 80 gallon that is currently running at max, but it's also powering three reactors off a manifold. Getting a Mag12 might be a good idea, but only if you're planning to use it for an upgrade at a later date or if you want to run additional filtration off it at some point.

I personally dont like mag pump cuz they too noisy. but mag 9 or 12 should work. if its too strong just adjust ur locline in ur tank

I'm really starting to hate lifeguard aquatics. I have two of their led lights and a pump. I'm constantly having to buy replacement parts
