So I have a 40 Breeder that will have a 20 Gal Long sump/fuge.

I am trying to decide which return pump to go with.

PS: Please let me know which you recommend if you select other.

I checked that earlier but it was nearly $110+ to much for a pump i can afford at the moment.

Whats the rush? You'll save more money in the long run buying reliable equipment. It took me 6 months to get water in my tank and I don't regret holding out for better equipment.

Go with maxijet1100 or 1800
Mag drive 5 should work too and cheap
The maxijet seem to use less energy and run a lot quiet
I heard a lot of great thigs

Mag 5 or rio 1700. I've had excellent luck with these! Def not very weak pumps and the impeller jams all the time!

Holy cow, everyone dislikes those choices.

I can't go with Ehiem bc that thing is nearly $130 plus. I prefer to be below $100.

Any reason why everyone dislikes those mentioned pumps?

Its best to choose reliable equipment even if it means a slower build. Its your inhabitant's life support. Patience is the name of the game with a successful reef. Would you really want to lose something you spent good money on and years to grow out because of equipment failure? :)

I agree but i don't think a $30 difference in equipment would equate to failure that fast or most would be out of business.
Everyone doesn't run a $120 unit so there are others if not majority that use items that cost a bit less with great success.

I didn't see any choices to choose from sorry could be because I'm using tapatalk though. But if your budget is below $100 danner mag5 is an epic pump!

WWHat do you guys think about the Eheim compact 2000? I can get one for about $71 from amazon
or the Tunze 1073.020 for $87.

I am being told i won't need one that strong, so i am looking for ones that are just below 600gph at most.
