That is the nice thing about dc pump, you can control the speed/gallons per hour.You will need the measurements of the actual pond but if it's got to fit into a small back compartment.
Can you post the dimensions?

Where are the feed buttons on AC pumps.. so bummed about that!Wow....that's simultaneously the worse AND most creative spellcheck I've ever seen! :mad:
POND = PUMP
You need the dimensions of the pump so you can make sure the new one fits in the compartment.
I'd use a DC pump if I already had one.
But if I'm buying a return pump I don't quite see the use-case for it. You only set the flow once in most cases. Also, an AC pump should last longer.

DC pumps tend to last longer that AC also.

So true you can never go wrong with an AC centrifugal pumpLike I said, I'm not anti-DC pump...I'd use one if I had one already...just don't see the use-case as a return pump if I'm spending new money.
A "feed button" has never entered the equation nor has it ever been a problem not having one on the return pump. That's a good thing to bring up.
I don't think I would ever use that as a criteria for a return pump.
There are two things that matter in a return pump: reliability and reliability.
Worrying about feeding is a separate issue.
In my case, I don't shut off my return pump....just the skimmer. The skimmer is on my Reefkeeper Lite which has custom "Standby" modes for things like feeding.
Before I had a controller the skimmer was on a DJ-style power strip (individual On/Off switches per outlet) and I just shut it off as needed.
I'm not sure of the basis for saying that since DC pumps have only been on the market a short while and the track record when you consider all DC pumps hasn't been stellar.
On the other hand, I have AC pumps older than Reef2Reef. Probably older than some of its members.![]()

Dimensions of the pump are, 3 3/4 tall...4 1/4 long...2 1/2 wide.
