On the serious side I am very very proficient at plumbing.... been doing it for 17years and its daily task at my job.

That's why I post those pictures they are just so ridiculous to me I find them hilarious!

Looks really good David! Very clean and sleek

I do agree with protecting the tank as best you can. Doesn't take much to scratch it. Maybe get some rolled brown paper from Lowe's and tape it to the glass. It'll protect it a little better than drop cloth plastic sheeting as far as scratches go.

I know a couple of people who say "it's not if it will leak, it's just when". Got a call from a buddy last year just before Christmas. His 250 gallon tank had finally (after several years) sprung a leak. Of course, this happened right after his wife had cleaned the entire house in preparation for visits from family members. It wouldn't be polite to quote her comments here but I digress. If you were able to add 4 low profile "lips" around the top of the stand, you could then add a drain hole in the stand. If - perish the thought - your tank ever sprung a leak, you wouldn't have to hide out from your wife in the garage or tool shed. Just saying ....

And back to my buddy. His fish hobby didn't survive the leak. After I took the critter and rock (distributed as best I could around our small community) and after several holiday drinks, the tank and plumbing underwent radical surgery with a skill saw. It almost fit in a large garbage container.
