Hey Rev, look up " The Rule of Thirds", it's a design thing. Maybe it will give you some help executing your vision. Good luck, aquascaping is a process.

I agree with what others have posted, the left and right side look great. The flat piece in the center looks a bit unnatural.

Hmm.. sounded much better when Jack Nicholson said it....

But I agree. The middle is so centered it doesn't look natural. Even when nature does line things up that well we assume that it must have been impacted by man.

I do like the last advice given about the scape. Its tough. Thats a nice piece of shelf, and i would want to find a way to use it. Its also the odd duck. Could you use it on the sand bed? Maybe down in front of the center walls. Ruin like.

How about placing that shelf rock to span between either the right or left structures and try to picture your scape with corals growing in, I could see it with slimmer birds nest or stags growing there

Or how about making a more traditional structure just offset from the middle and use an acrylic rod to make that shelf rock float between the center and one side?

You just have to be happy with want you do. I'm about to do my rock work and have no idea. I guess it will come to me when I get started on it.

Looking good rev, one awesome man cave. I agree with the others the centre piece needs something, the flat piece just doesn't look right as it is. @Brew12 might be on to something with making it a floating piece even float it off one side of the centre piece

I picture the shelf at a slight angle on right side5-20" above sanded sticking out of two larger rocks,eith shelves epoxy and pvc rod are you friends. At any rate I'm never completely satisfied with me scapes,just have fun with it and try not to over think it.
At least it's not a matter of wet armpits everytime you make an adjustment now.
Also in wall tanks are tough being You have To leave the veiwing side everytime you need to change something.

Essentially divide the tank up like a tic-tac-toe front front and top, in intersection points are your focus points, and if you interweave the two into a 3-d grid, you have essentially 8 points "hovering" within the tank, like a cube with the corners at all the 1/3 points. One tank I did this on I made the high point the back/left/high corner and the low one the front/right/low corner
