Risky reef fish

Flame angel. He's a jerk
I just put one in quarantine about 3 hours ago. He's in with some small gobies, dartfish, and tilefish. I think after a prophylactic copper treatment, I'll put him in the coral/invert quarantine tank and observe him for a time. Not sure how indicative of his future behavior in the main tank that will be, but I do know I'm rolling the dice a bit, regardless.

the riskiest thing in my tank, although not a fish is a mini carpet anemone. only ever had anything close to a problem with it once, when my brittle star literally jumped into it trying to steal a bit of shrimp. both parties made it out ok though.

100% agree on the anemone. My carpet has taken a list of fish life’s.
2-blue throat trigger
Vlamingii tang
Convict tang
Fire wrasse
Even after that slightly expensive list wife still won’t let me trade it out.

sixline has always been a 50/50 shot for me. Either bullies huge fish to death or is a model citizen. And good luck getting him out. Had to tear down the tank twice just to get them out..

This giant Mushroom was a fish-killing assassin. Would have probably taken out people!, if given the chance. Lol.

Currently keeping a moorish idol, regal and majestic angel in my sps leaning mixed reef.
They do nip och corals but heavy feeding and a good amount of corals makes sure that there are no real damage done.

I've only ever had two fish that I considered a mistake... both of them went back to the LFS within a week.

First was an aiptasia-eating filefish who did as his name suggested... and then just kept on going. After my Aoi zoas went missing, he punched his ticket back to the LFS.

Second was a Japanese golden hawkfish. Great fish, tons of personality, ate like a pig and was always the #1 character in the tank. Then he killed one of his tankmates while my wife was watching, literally ripped off its entire back half. She couldn't unsee the incident every time she saw him, so back to the LFS he went.

Nothing now but in the past it was my gold flake Angel. Started nipping corals so I traded it back into the store after a couple of months. Really regretted that decision though. I would have rather had a fowlr

Same experience. First one was great, second harassed everything in the tank. Won’t be a third.
