Interesting results thus far after removing the cloves. We all "know" some corals release toxins, but it's hard to note the extent of their effect without seeing it first hand. Just out of curiosity, were you running carbon and/or GFO before eradicating the cloves?

I was running carbon and GFO. I used it off and on for years. My water would get an odd color that someone that doesn't keep reef tanks wouldn't notice. I would do a water change, add fresh carbon and GFO and the water would look great for about a day. After a week or so it was dull again and I couldn't see the shimmer from the LEDs. Since the cloves are gone the water is sparkling and I'm not running carbon or GFO right now.

Another thing I noticed is that some sps frags are growing upwards instead of just encrusting. I'm wondering if my sps were spending all their energy fighting back cloves and not growing upwards. I need to take some new growth shots but it's night and day since I removed the cloves. I had decent growth before but this is another level.

Just caught this beauty in my tank. This is why I can't keep snails. I get small whelks all the time but this is a fat one.

The tank looks Great Gabe! I am thankful that those blue cloves never lived in my tank. WOW! That was a real mess you had on your hands.

I could not find any information on the Crazy Purple Efflo I gave you except for the following post on dallasmas:

I lost my piece of crazy purple efflo to a "reef safe" tribal blenny. I was in a fish store the other day and the guy had a Crazy Purple Efflo advertised on his board. Unfortunately, it was an old listing and he didn't have any more frags and did not know where he got them.

That tubs pink jade I got from you is doing well too. One of the faster growers in my tank. The efflo is the SLOWEST. Glad to see you getting back in the hobby and posting again.

Awesome. I love that you killed the cloves. I had some and they were motivation for getting rid of the tank. So pretty at first, not so pretty years down the road when they are every where. Cool tank!

Not much going on right now. The tank is pretty full and I haven't had any losses so there's nothing new to add. I'm working more on testing, stability and getting good growth.

Just sort of a tracking post. I started running GFO again tonight. I swore it off a while back but after discovering how much better the corals look since the cloves are gone I decided to give it another shot in small amounts.

I took a ton of pics yesterday I need to go through and upload. Hopefully one or two came out worth posting.
