its alright bud.! in no time you'll be back up and able to get some nice frags There still growing as of now doing okay. But the past few days been getting some STN on some of out Millies. Dont no why or what is causing it. no bugs or AFEW, i think its cause of a AMG swing we just did we raised it a little to fast i think. few weeks should be back to normal.

The display is 75 gallons and the sump is a 29 gallon. I've added added and removed live rock so much over the years I'm not sure of the exact weight. I'm going to estimate there is 70+ lbs in the display and another 30+ in the sump. I've removed my chaeto and filled up the sump with liverock. I can't fit anymore down there. The skimmer takes up the left half and the other half is live rock. I've tried the minimal live rock approach and I always have better results with tons of live rock. The more the better IMO.

Can you please elaborate regarding the amount of liverock? When you say better results, what does that exactly mean? Ie did you get better SPS colours?

What was the effect of minimal rock versus the effect of significantly more rock?

The tanks I've tried with small amounts of liverock always seem unstable. Even though I don't detect any issues when testing, I always seem to have issues with algae or poor coral health. I set up a frag tank recently and used established rock but only a few large pieces. My BTAS didn't appear happy and I was loosing some sps. I added a couple more rocks to the display and filled the sump with liverock and literally the next day my issues stopped. I did the same thing for my display and have noticed good results. More stability IMO. Not necessarily one thing to point to that makes me say it's better but the overall health of my corals is as good as it's ever been right now.

Operation Acro removal continues.

Seems like everytime I remove another Acro colony there are less and less AEFW. Some sps pieces don't have any AEFW on them at all when I dip but I can see they are being affected. I still have some Acro colonies in my tank that have ZERO signs of AEFW and are doing just fine. Seems like they leave some types of Acros alone. The Acros I removed and dipped look great in the frag tank. No signs of pests or eggs. The PE is much greater after a good Bayer dip.

My 5 year tank anniversary is coming up in a few weeks.

man riter sorry to hear what u going threw .......just starting to get into sps myself now and that one thing im nervous of .......seems like u winning the battle now .........hey are u making out with the bb are u still loving it any regrets ? any issues with maintaining ph do to being bb?

Another BB reefer here. Good to hear the Acros in the frag tank are doing well. Hope the rest go the same way. Congrats on your 5t tank birthday. That is an achievement to be proud of.

I have not found one AEFW on the remaining Acros in the display and I've been basting them almost daily. They are growing well and have good color. I don't see red bugs anymore either and I haven't done anything to treat for them (which is odd to me). The frag tank is doing ok aside from a bit of hair algae. The Acros have good PE and are not showing any signs of pests. The frag tank is eating up alkalinity and since I don't have any other dosing pumps I resorted to kalk in the ATO. So far it's working good. I have a Maxspect Razor over the 40 breeder frag tank with the 120 degree optics turned up to 100% on both channels. I'm seeing good growth tips and the bases are encrusting.

For some reason I can't keep Monitpora in my tank. They do great for a while, decline, I break off all the dead pieces and it starts all over again. Acros, birdsnests, Stylo, LPS, zoas all are fine and growing well with good color. I lost my orange cap again and part of my orange Digi, a small green cap and my purple looks bad. The sunset montipora looks great all the rest are nearly dead. I've been doing this for a long time now and have never been able to figure it out. The montis made a miraculous recovery after killing the blue cloves so I thought they were my problem but it's happening again. The branches of the digi died but the base is still encrusting with good color.

Before, grew from a frag, died, grew to this recently,

Yesterday, I fragged it to attempt to save some of it. This is how they all do. Starts fading and slowly dies.

For some reason Montis are now doing great in my tank! I had almost completely removed this orange monti except for some dead looking scraps still attached to the rock. It's now one of the fastest growers in the tank.

This Idaho grape cap had long been forgotten and now it's suddenly appeared out of nothing and doing great.

Haven't really done anything different than before. I'm still puzzled by the montis in my tank. I'm not complaining right now though.
