ritter6788's 75 gallon sps

Nice skimmer. I like how it came with the neck cleaner. Is it a vertex (sorry, I'm not too familiar with the skimmers)? Could you tell me how tall it is w the neck cleaner? I'm looking to upgrade from my aquac - ev 180 on my 75

Yes It's a Vertex Omega 150. It's 22" tall and the neck cleaner adds about 3-4 inches to that . I've had several skimmers over the years and this is the best built I've seen. I haven't had it long enough to judge performance but the acrylic is very thick and solid compared to some other skimmers.

Let me when your ready to trade out of that thing ;)
It matches my light!

Bah! The clam is gone. Had it almost 6 years and grew it from 2".

I think a blue squamosa would be nice there. It's the only clam I haven't kept. The derasa was the first clam I've ever had die on me.

Sorry to hear Gabe, I'd opt for a blue Squamosa too. Just be sure to wait a few months just to be sure any possible clam bug's are cleared out of the system.

Will do that for sure. I'm betting it was damaged from the Bayer dip. My toadstool hasn't opened in 2 months either. Everything else is stellar though.

I can hear your wheels turning from here! :xd:

Here's a pic of the clam when I first got it. About 2 inches! Photo uploaded May 2010 so I've had it actually about 4 1/2 or 5 years.

Left my alk pump on for the last 24 hours! My alk is 14+dkh. Debating on water change or just letting it fall. Corals surprisingly look great. First time I've done that ever!

On a side note, this is why I don't feed my corals. Look at the plankton swimming around.

That has to be great coral food. I can't imagine what there is in there that you can't see.

Sweet vid Gabe!! You know I notice that sometimes when I turn all the pumps off too. You have a healthy system!
