Hello people, i would like to ask you that I'm having a hard time figuring if my anemone is in good shape or not. It appears to me that it's not fully opening. It's been about 3-4 days and he just got to my lps from a long journey (30 hours of shipment). He rested at my lps about a week and then i got him. My parameters, temp. , flow, skimming and lighting are all good. Here is a pic. He does look healthy but still he doesn't look like he is fully opened. Thanks in advance.

He is at the very top corner right now, getting the maximum light as well. Only thing is flow is moderate at the moment. Should i get my powerhead direction directly at mag. ? I also rotated my lighting from left to right to get him more light. Ill post a ss when i get back home. Cheers.

No, i would let him settle in. If he doesnt like that spot he will move. Thats a very good sign though.

Last week, its parameters were good. Gonna check again after my first water change. Yeah he hasnt moved an inch. My previous anemone was a bta, and he was very alive unlike this one. İ traded it with mag. Clowns really fall in love with mags :) Then ill keep the tank for it is now. Btw i fed the tank tofay eith shrimp but mag didnt eat it :( my bta was eating fine. I think he will eventually eat when settles.

yeah i would give him a day or so before he eats. Hes gotta settle. My mag is about 14in open. Ive had this one about a year. I get frozen medium shrimp from the store and thaw in rodi. When he was small I fed him a half of one every other day. Now that hes big I fed a whole one in 2 pieces once a week. I just rub it around in his tentecles till he grabs it...

I agree that the tank looks too new for a mag addition realistically, mags and gigantea require the most skill and care to get acclimated to aquariums. Once you get it in and thriving for a while they are pretty easy to take care of but they are not at all comparable to a BTA. Hold off on feeding since it's a new addition, it should get plenty of nutrition from your lights and undigested food can make things worse. It's great that your clowns took to the anemone but keep an eye on them as they can be pretty rough on new additions and with an anemone like a mag, it can be its demise.

Ill keep that in mind. I tried to put it in its mouth lol. I wont try to feed him until he settles and opens fully. Thanks for all the help. Btw i dont think he will settle within a day or two. Its been nearly 5 days and he still looks the same like the first day.

Sure, they dont look too aggrassive though. Got a pair of ocellaris :)

By the way, your mag will never settle on that ledge, it's going to climb up your rock wall and stay at the top. My advice would be to create a tower for it, where the mag itself cannot touch anything else. If it can touch a wall it will climb up it. Mags by nature will climb as high as possible.

Its not possible for me to block its path right now. I dont want to remove it right, it might get hurt. Ill just wait and see how it goes. Btw there is no path for it to go right now. Its nearly at the end, near the surface. But if i sense or see that it tries to climb, then ill position him manually.

He is very close to the intake part of the tank though. Ill send ss when i get home.

The nem likely needs to be treated with cipro for 7 days. All new nems should be treated before adding to a DT.
this is exactly what i was going to say, especially Ritteri they almost always need a cirpro treatment upon purchase
best of luck, fortunately it has nice color and is attached.
also i agree with the other members in regards to your tanks maturity. it looks like you still have diatoms to overcome before worrying about anemones. any help you need don't hesitate to ask

Yeah thanks :) I hope he will settle and open up soon...

I think nemmy seems a bit better now.
What do you guys think?

Generally speaking Ritteri don't travel well and should be treated for a week with Cipro. That being said- he may simply be acclimating and may be okay. Keep a close eye on him and have Cipro on hand and have QT ready.

Have you tried feeding him - something along small piece of table shrimp?

I think trying to feed him may help indicate whether her is doing okay. I would agree not to feed typically, but not eating may indicate that he is not doing well.
