If I am correct, Eric at DA has been in touch and working this out. It sounds like an issue with the head unit.

Try just the head unit and one PC4 only if you have a PC4. If not try it using just a PB4. This will rule out all other modules causing the issue. If it still doesn't work then it may be an issue with the head unit. I know a few have had issues with the buss connector. Try sending an email to DA support.

Tried what you said, and the Head Unit won't even show up in MY Reef, only the SID shows. Tried Both PC4 and PB4 same thing. I have been talking to DA as of yesterday thru e-mail. Thank You for your help.

So he's the one I'm talking to thru e-mail. I believe it's the Head unit. Like I told him it worked fine until I tried to add PB4's. And the Head Unit had to be updated to add the PB4's. They wouldn't even show up in My Reef until I updated to 3.0.

OK, no problem. It sounds like you going to have to send the head unit in for repair.

Update to this thread. I had everything up and running for over 2 months now. The only thing is I had to deal with the system shutting down and restarting the whole time. I'm waiting on DA to send me a replacement 10ft bus cable. Finally got the bus cable yesterday and replaced the 2 bus cables I had hooked up with a connector. Now the system is shutting down and restarting more often than before. I can't get the system to work at all. I worked on this sucker for over 5 hours trying to get it up and running.(of course its the weekend) Tried hooking it up in different ways. Now every module is blinking, and not showing up on the head unit, or in my reef. I was told by DA that the head unit has to be hooked up to a PB4 first in line. I'm doing that and the head unit won't even come on. I was also told that a PC1 has to be connected to a PB4 directly, and the SLX and the SL1. It hooked up like that. Is there something different with the PB4 compared to the PC4? I had no trouble with the PC4's being hooked up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. (I have a $800 dollar system that have these little blue lights flashing, so cool.) Any help out there?

All the money I have put into this system I could of had a Apex.

For troubleshooting purposes can you hook just the head unit to a PB4 or PC4 only and see if it is still shutting down and reatarting. Also check the buss errors on the system.

Tried that, the head unit won't light up, there are over 900 bus errors. What does bus errors mean, and have anything to do with not working?

I'm not saying Markak that it is any better because I don't know since I went straight to Apex. I was actually teasing and I hope I didn't offend you. I have looked at RK elite after I got Apex and almost decided to get rid of Apex and go to RK it seemed simpler to me. But I said Self you already got this just keep on going with it and I have and I like it a lot

That would be buss communication errors since it was powered up or reset. That is high if it has been less than 48hrs. That number was with just a PB4 and head unit only? if so try a different PB4. Don't add any other modules until we can get the buss errors down. What do you mean by the head unit wont light? Does it have a display at all? Also for the test leave the SID disconnected. This can cause the system to crash also.

Yes it does light up, but it doesn't show the PB4 being connected. The out display shows blank nothing there. Also the PB4 green light blinks.

No problem not upset over what you said.

The RKE head unit is not recognizing the PB4 as a module then. What version of myReef so you have on your computer?

Right the head unit doesn't recognize the PB4. My Reef 2.0 build 82. Today I'm going to try hooking up the head unit to each PB4 see if any are recognize any, I have4 of them. How can I go thru my bus cables to see any are bad? Thanks

Do you by chance still have a working PC4 you can try if none of the PB4's are recognized. Also since only one power bar and the head unit are hooked up you can try a different buss cable or 2 to eliminate the buss cable as the issue. It may be that you RKE head unit has an issue where it is not communicating with any modules but otherwise working. How old is the head unit?

Oh sorry, forgot to answer that, no I don't have a PC4 that works. I had a flood and the PC4 got fried. So I replaced with new Head Unit, 4 PB4's, SLX, SL2 and MLC. Thanks I'll try your suggestion to see if I have any bad Bus Cables.

So this was an upgrade to an RKL after the water damage to the PC4? If so is the RKL head unit still operable?
