Ok so i ordered a BRS 4 stage RO/DI plus system to get 0 TDS water just in case they close the fish stores in this crisis we have going on, I read that full RODI water isnt the best for you because it depletes your electrolytes (ITS WHAT PLANTS CRAVE). so i was wondering if it was possible to put a T inline before the DI stage of the system and run that to a small undercounter RO storage tank and then run the rest to a storage container for the tank water. And no im not the one hoarding all the toiler paper and water bottles LOL.

Mine is from airwaterice. It's 5 or 6 years old now but I think it was called the typhoon 3

You can add a 3-WAY BALL VALVE WITH JOHN GUEST 1⁄4" PUSH CONNECT (can be found on BRS) and with some modifications you easily swap between RO and RODI water.

I don't mean to be negative but my understanding is that the final RODI water isn't safe to consume and the bypass has what is rejected by your system so it can be concentrated with things you may not want depending on your incoming water supply. Just be careful :)

Edit: I mean you can take water that is safe and create 2 types of water that are not. Sterile and concentrated with impurities.

OP, you can just add the Faucet kit to your RODI and you're done. It T's off the RO post production. It separates the DI so you don’t drink RODI. You just get RO. The instructions are in the kit. Very easy.
I use to run my RODI under my kitchen sink with the above set up.

Everything you need:

I thought RO and RODI deplete nutrients from your system since it's 0 ppms.

Guys rodi water is not safe to drink. I believe it depletes your electrolytes or something like that.
But if you bypass the di chamber then the RO water is great for drinking. It's usually around .03ppm
Krash I think your referring to rodi (sterile) and the waste water (concentrated with impurities). We are discussing ro water which is neither of those

RODI water is not recommended to drink because DI resin is not food grade. There is no other difference in RO vs RODI water, except the DI is going to be 0 tds if your DI is not depleted. RO water is fine to drink. The things people say it is missing you get from other sources anyway. If you are really worried, take a vitamin.

I’ve drank my RODI water for 2+ years. (Used RODI with FW before SW tank). I never had any problems. Many others can vouch for this. What OP is thinking of is ultra pure water. They are different. RODI still has dissolved gasses and is not 100% just H2O. If you really are worried, as a very tiny amount of salt to your RODI for you to drink.

Usually, "I never had any problems" is not a substitute for medical advice from professionals. You can also cross the street blindfolded and not get hit- doesnt mean its a good idea :)

The World Health Organization and the CDC (based on the WHO research) recommend against the exclusive use of de-mineralized water for drinking and cooking. They concluded that it's not immediately harmful to drink d-m water, but that it lacks beneficial minerals that may not be sufficiently replaced by diet, especially Ca, Mg, and K. Partiular concern was noted for use in cooking since it will aggressively leach minerals from food, and the cooking water is usually discarded rather than consumed.
WHO: Nutrients in Drinking Water, Ch 12.
In short - drinking your RO/DI water won't hurt you. Drinking ONLY RO/DI water is a bad idea.

PS: Just drink a couple of Choc beers every day and you won't have to worry about your water.

I will admit that I did not read the entire 16 pages.
But my interpretation of what I did read is that even drinking RO water has it issues and maybe not so good for you as one has been led to believe.

None of the studies has found any health benefits to RO water. It is effective at removing bacteria and viruses, but that only counts if it's going straight from the membrane to the cup.
