So I scored a beautiful rock nem from Cherry Corals live sale and I've been looking around on here and there's not a whole lot mentioned about them on r2r.

So how about a rock nem tips and show off thread?

This will be my first one in my first tank so I'd love to hear from those that have them any tips on how to care for them. And I'd really love to see your pics. I'll add some once I get mine.

One question I have is, on LA they say that rock nems can live singly or in groups. So if/when I eventually get another one can I have them close together? Or will they sting each other?

Got my rock nems from Cherry Corals today. They're gorgeous. And I'm not positive but I think I might have gotten a baby bonus with it. BONUS! :)

What do y'all think? Any tips?

Yep that's a little baby. They will not hurt eachother so you can place them close. They will settle with just the right amount of space apart to make them happy. They are really hardy for nems so not hard to keep. That green guy is a looker congrats.

Thanks. I'm so excited. I think they're going to end up being my favorite things in the tank.

That is a boy doing his thing at sunset one night. Unfortunately his neighbor was also male so no babies :-(

I like them a lot. I think lack of being able to propagate in aquariums and not being hosts for clowns keeps many people from keeping them.

Unfortunate about both males but that's pretty cool you got to see it. Do you know if there's a way to tell male from female?

I'm going to get something else for my clown to host. Like a hammer or frogspawn.

The cool thing is sexy shrimp and anemone crabs will still host them. They love nem hopping if you have a group.

Cool I'll have to get one. I think I'll wait till they get a bit bigger first though.

Crappy cell phone pic under blue lights

The baby is really luminescing. Can't wait to see what it grows up to look like. Fingers crossed I can keep it alive.

I do believe the baby has grown a little already. I've been feeding it coral frenzy pellets. So far I've just fed twice and 1 small pellet per feeding. I'm really glad I put it in the pvc cap because that allows me to pick it up and bring it to the surface to feed it. It still takes multiple tries before I manage to actually get a pellet on it. But it swallows them right up.

Has anyone else raised one from a baby? I'd love to hear your experiences.

If you feed them they deff grow faster. I know mine did. And the porcelin crab is hosting it.

Oh love the colors. My green one was supposed to have purple tentacles but instead they're kind of a brownish green. Not sure if I need to change my lighting (it's turned down at the moment too acclimate) or if the color will change back once it's fully settled in or if that's just the color it's going to be. This is all new to me

If well fed you will get babies from the adults and if you are the bold type you can cut adults in half(some losses will occur).
