I'm about 2 months in to this hobby. I bought a tiny rock flower anemone about a month ago. it was doing fine until I added marine PH 8.2 to get it up to that level. it was a powdery mix and I thought I mixed it well enough before pouring it in the tank. Well, my rock flower disagreed. He immediately shrunk into the crevice of the rock. As the hours went, i swear I could see some of his dark purple skirt fall off. He hasn't been the same and is constantly hiding in that crevice. How do I remove him from there to get a better look. He is definitely still alive.

What are your parameters?
How old is the tank ?

Calcium 360
Kh 179
Phosphate 0
Nitrate 0
PH 8.2
ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Water salinity 1.024
Tank is 2 months old
Are you sure your dkh is right? It’s should be between 8-12 dkh
It’s hard to tell from the pictures if its in really bad shape .
Anemones require tanks that are older than 6 months

I re-tested this evening it was at 10. when you use the chart 10 =179. I re-tested calcium this evening as well. I test salinity every day. the rest of numbers were from this past Saturday

Is there anyway you can get a clear pic of it with the white lights

I'll have to try tomorrow in the morning. I included some pics with all the lights on. I moved my powerhead over him for tonight. I want to see if maybe some circulation will help him.

Your tank is to new for it and the alk and ph swing is stressing it out

But i have a long tentacle anemone that is doing very well. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Give it some time, lots of corals and anemones will respond to sudden changes in parameters. I've had it happen with everything from sudden changes in salinity (like topping off too quickly on accident), too quick of KH and calcium adjustments etc. They can shrink a bit and shrivel but usually not for long. If that's what is bothering it, It probably just shocked it a little and it should bounce back.

Thank you! feeling hopeful

I had a hammer retract from the same thing once. It look about a week, but he is fine.

If they're touching, then it's more likely that's the issue aside from the addition of carbonates too quickly. Just being close or in the same system is rarely an issue.
James knows that it was the ph and alk swing he was the first one to tell him

We know, and honestly I didn't even read James's first post before making mine. Don't be upset at me for restating an issue we already know of while disussing another possibility.
