Just read this thread. Very interesting. It’s nice to see what goes on across the pond as well.
Growing up mom would always tell me don’t get wet or muddy and be on time. I would be standing in front of her, late, wet, muddy and holding onto something. “Mom, can I take it home”. Always ended up the same way, in trouble and empty handed.
Grew up an hour from the ocean and going was the best thing ever, and no, I never got to keep anything. Fast forward through first half of my life chasing happiness on a dead end road I wound up in Florida.
The little boy is still in there, and my wife is not my mother. We went today, swimming with the jellyfish and got tore up. We discussed going to a little island she likes to swim and have lunch on. I love it, especially at low tide. We used to kayak, but now have a jet ski to tool around on and fish.
That same little boy saw an arrow crab in a fish store and couldn’t believe it was real. I collected one or ten and kept them in a tank until the excitement wore off.
Not sure where I am going with this, but this is right up my ally.
Was looking for flashlight batteries after reading this thread to peek in a tank. No batteries but I found a couple Flamingo Tongue shells. I collected them years ago with dreams of keeping them alive on green star polyps. Turns out they need clean, fast moving water and did not survive the bucket. Now they always stay where they are.
