I have 4 in this tank. Last summer I hit some hard times and sold almost my whole collection of clams.Looking really good, how many clams do you have in there?
I have found many benefits to air injection I really would not run a tank without it here are the 3 main reasons I run it. 1. it helps keep PH up by driving out the CO2 in the water column 2. it picks up detritus from all over the tank and carries it out the overflows and down to the skimmer. 3. it causes the corals to slime and aids in cleaning I also believe it aids in pest control by doing this as well.So what does injecting your tank with air do? What are the benefits of it.
You will be hard pressed to find anything about it since it was originally started here in Fresno Ca. by Joseph Weatherson here is a link to one of his 2 time Reefkeeping Magazine TOTM Tank of the Month - April 2008 - Reefkeeping.com that explains a little of the concept. Running it during the day mimics natural reef interment calmer calm nights. PH is a perk but not the main reason I run it the exceptional growth and color of my SPS is the main reason there is no doubt that my SPS are happier when air injection is on the system.I like the idea of the air injection but I'm confused as to why you run it during the day? If one of the purposes of doing it is to keep ph levels up, wouldn't it make sense to run it during the night when ph levels fall and co2 levels rise? Pretty much the same concept as a refugium where the macroalgae is producing oxygen at night thus keeping ph levels from dropping. Just my thoughts. Not arguing or saying you're wrong but it makes sense to me...I tried searching for an explanation of how air injection works and found nothing. Is there anywhere that you know of that supports the implementation of air injection in reefs?

On my other tanks I went 1 minute on this one I go 2 minutes just cause it takes longet for the bubbles to get around the whole tank being so wide and a peninsula. That makes sense. I guess I was thinking it was more for ph than anything for some reason. There's no doubt that it certainly doesn't hurt things and by the looks of your tank it obviously does something the corals like! I actually hooked up an air pump set on a digital timer just the way you described to my tank already lol I'll see how it goes. Just to confirm, it's set to go on every 3 hours for a period of 2 minutes correct? I ask because in your videos, the air is on for a shorter period. Thanks for that link. I'll check it out right now.

I bought them small brought them home and drip acclimated them to my tank in about a half hour they never had any problems acclimated strait over.Wow! Great looking tank and great sticks! Did you raise the monos from babies in brackish water and then put into saltwater, or did you purchase them as adults?
