So bought a used marine depot 100gpd 6 stage RODI and tried it on my faucet connected to my house and am only getting waste water. The water filled up the first containers quickly but then the resin containers slowly filled up( pics attached) It has about 45psi, i know recommended is 50+ is this why? It has some switch on the top that when i turn it on and off fluctuates the psi to even lower.

regardless of psi you should still be getting some product water. i would make sure none of the hoses are plugged up and take apart all canisters to make sure they are seated properly.

hmmm gotcha, ill be sure to do that.

If its used the filters could be shot...id replace them as well as make sure theres no blockage.

The switch on the top is for flushing the filters. So under normal use, you'd switch it to the "lower psi" setting for five minutes at the start and end of using it. When you want to make water for the tank, set it to the "higher psi" setting and water should be pushed through to the 0 tds line. Or at least, that's how mine works.

For your purposes, set it to the "high psi" direction until you start getting water. For what it's worth, I had to buy a pump to amp up pressure to make mine work. How long have you let it run?

Good luck!

Hard to tell from pics, but IMO the 'loop with the shut off valve' does nothing, since it's connecting 2 Ts (doesn't appear to have flow restrictor in yellow line)...
I think that you need to research and check all the piping to make sure that they are connected correctly.

Since his pressure drops when the valve is open I would assume that there is a flow restrictor in the yellow line.

A number of companies restrictors go inside the tubing.

And if it’s this style they clog easily in my opinion. Like others have stated pull everything apart for a close inspection of filter cartridges and flush all your tubes. These units can be picky but when all is flowing you’ll be happy with it.

I'm curious as to whether or not all the cartridges need replacing. IME the used ones I see for sale are generally in need of replacement of all filters and DI resign.

Not all people want to spend the money replacing everything before selling RODI units. Personally, the one I sold I did replace everything needed because I like folks to buy knowing they can trust me. I'd seriously consider changing all sediment, carbon blocks, membrane, and DI unless the person did, in fact, bring it up to snuff before selling.

I think I might have found the issue. I think my membrane is shot. The reason I think this is because the TDS in the line right after the membrane reads 65ish and also the line (circled in green) directly after the membrane as very low flow coming out. Like I could spit more water faster than it dribbles out of there. So with this knowledge am I correct in thinking the membrane is bad?

Also to everyone else there is no flow restrictor sorry for the bad pictures

If you did not wait long enough for DI/resin filters to fill up (pics look 1/2 filled) then you would not be getting any RODI water out, although there would be waste water.

The system needs to have a flow restrictor to work. I would request a refund for this if it was sold as a working system.

I bought it second hand but I guess I missed this flow restrictor when I was inspecting the plumbing.

Yea I'm thinking I just need a new membrane my TDs is way too high still and the water pressure after the membrane is literally so low
