So I go to my rodi makers website to browse a little and look at booster pumps. Well they sell a uv that goes pre filter or before the sediment filter.

Anyone running a UV on their rodi? Did u see a difference in water quality? Your displays livestock or water quality? Did your rodi units filters last longer?
Thanks
Devin

If you are trying to make your display tank clearer, adding a UV to the top off does absolutely nothing to the bacteria that is reproducing in your tank water column. I don’t believe there is any benefit of adding a UV to a functional RODI system.

The bacteria isn’t getting introduced from the top off water, it’s already in the tank and is reproducing via a carbon source.

So u think my city water treatment center already does enough and the u.v. would be hitting nothing?

What’s your TDS? What are you trying to accomplish with a UV on your RODI? Are you trying to eliminate chlorine/chloramines, or bacteria?

Cleaner top off water...
I’m going to infer that you want cleaner top off water because you want your tank to result in being cleaner…

So it seems like there’s an underlying issue here. Why do you think your tank isn’t clean? :)

Are you having algae? Cloudy water? High nutrients? What makes a tank “dirty”?

No. Im just exploring an idea. Lol

Are you sure? I found this in your build thread:

I’m definitely seeing a desire for a clean tank. :)
