Rodi waste water uses

I just go the RD 106 from Filter Direct. I bumped it up to 150 GPD, and added another DI filter for the fish water. It makes drinking water too. I does not through the DI for drinking water, and has an added carbon filter for taste. It does not have a UV, but being on city water probably does not need it. I can smell the chlorine when I run the tap. I know the unit is 3 gallons of waste water per gallon of RODI. Yikes. I need to find a way to store this so I can use it for gardening and lawn. Maybe I could hook it up to a soaker hose?

It would be safer to put the waste in a plastic barrel with an air gap between the tubing and barrel so it meets Uniform Plumbing Codes and local heath codes. From there you could gravity feed a soaker hose.

Many users ignore health codes when hooking up a RO to their water supply and especially the sewer, washing machine drain or P trap drain pipe under a sink, just like a dishwasher or other device it should have an air gap or seperation so there is no potential for anything to back up into the membrane or waste line with a sewer back up or for odors to get back into the system. This is why good vendors provide an air gap faucet with their drinking water kits or systems so it meets codes.

I fill my washer first and then buckets to water the garden or anything else I think is needed. I've used it for my fresh water tanks as well.. It's gotta be better than whats coming out of the tap.

Actually it is not better than tap other than it has large particles, suspended solids, if you have any strained out and the chlorine is removed. The TDS, (metals, contaminants and dissolved substances) will be higher than the original tap water by 20 to 25% with most systems since you are taking the concentrated brine or waste from that one treated gallon and combining it with the four waste gallons.

The RO wastewater contains salts, solids, in any contaminants. It is very highly concentrated, and I probably would never drink it.
