Rose Bubbletip or Black Widow

I’ve been wanting a Rose BT for awhile now so when I saw 3 in the LFS I picked one up. They were very small so could tell it was red but that’s about it. I’m acclimating it to my tank and it opened up and I think it looks like a black widow which I’ve been seeing around at ridiculous prices. Opinion - rose BT or BW? I paid $39 for it. The bottom has some stringy stuff so I’m hoping the guy didn’t damage it removing it from the glass floor of the tank it was in at the LFS. What is the draw and high price for black widows anyhow?

It may well be... Even if it isn't, that is one beautiful nem anyway, so congrats on the great find! The high price on the Black Widows is like anything else; they're pretty, and they're hard to find. People are willing to pay it, so that's what the vendors charge.

Got this from Healthy Pet Center in Latham, pretty sure it's a rose bubbletip. It's gorgeous!

Hard to tell from your picture, but I will offer you a picture of a BW I used to have. This is under all blues. BWs have a well defined webbing on the oral disk. The webbing on your BTA looks to be there, but can’t really tell about the color from the spectrum you took the image under.

I got this beautiful yellow tip from that last shipment from healthy pets along with a nice green tipped rose and a rose with orange tips...but these are all freshly imported wild caughts so no telling if theyll retain thier colors...fingers crossed...

Hard to tell from your picture, but I will offer you a picture of a BW I used to have. This is under all blues. BWs have a well defined webbing on the oral disk. The webbing on your BTA looks to be there, but can’t really tell about the color from the spectrum you took the image under.

The one I have definitely only has red, no black in the center. These are some really nice nems
