Planning out my first tank. Going to be a 425. Seen many powerheads used as circulation. Is there a preference between the round wavemakers compared to the long wide red sea ones?

Opinions / experiences ?

Any parricular make?
I know they are expensive but I use the Ecotech Mp40s and Mp10s in my tank. Being able to remove and clean the pump without dealing with cords is well worth the price.

Shouldnt they be the same power? And for a 425 is the Ecotech Mp40s the best model?

there is is no best way to go, everyones tank is different and everyone's personal preference and budget is diferent. The goal is to have as few dead spots as possible, many many machines can achieve this, so whatever color size budget works for you is best.

I use one Mp40 on each side facing each other and two Mp10s stacked on one side pushing flow along the back wall

I'm in the both category. They each have their pros and cons. 2x nero5's and a jebao scp 70 gyre.

Jabao Gyres are my personal favorite. Rock solid, extremely strong, cheap and durable. I've literally never seen one die and I can't say that of Maxspect/Icecap/AI etc.

I saved money on my tank by buying a marineland reef ready 120 for $600 and I built my own stand and sump as well. You save one place and you spend in others. It’s all about personal preference
