Lol well from what I take from you you must be a very intelligent person, have a good one

Well all the farmers I know of growing use cool white leds in the mix expecially ones with anemones and trindacnids under them, I'm sorry if my comments upset you so much.

Maybe Adam at battle corals or todd at reef systems are also noobies

JMO but you are waaaay out of line!! You've not posted one helpful comment in this (MY) entire thread. You've been insulting and definitely arrogant. Please take it elsewhere!

Yes yes it has lol. We will let him be right. I only want to help I don't get upset at other people's opinions sorry about all of that nanareefer

back on topic

enough of that reef guys arrogance.
lets get the ball rolling again!
i personally use a blue 20k spectrum but have thought about changing it a little warmer just to see the effect on growth
I have read studies that have shown sps corals to grow quicker with more of a warmer 10k-ish spectrum than in the 20k. (20k has better colors though imo :P)
why is this when i know most of the white spectrum is lost soon after it hits the water's surface?

So I'm on the right track with running my lights 14% whites and 60% blues? I like the look and my coral colors are great. Growth has been awesome as the majority have doubled in size within the last 9 months :)

I never even hit 100% color or 100% intensity with my Kessil even during high intensity cycle of the day with ramping, I hit 70% color (like whites at 40% and blues at 60%) and 65%intensity, ide say that what your running are good sets of light, if anything for a few hours a day it wouldn't hurt to turn up the whites.

Following. I think I blasted some new LPS with too much white. I'm running blue only for a bit.

Domt forget some leds are going to have uv spectrum that can be overwhelming to corals. I would start at like a 5%white 20%blue for a few days and bump blue up 5%a day and white 5% a week until you get where you want to be!

What types of corals are you keeping btw?

Tank/lights been running for 9 months. All corals doing wonderfully! LPS/SPS dominant, with a few frags of zoos.

Very nice! Your candy canes appear to be going crazy back there plate also looks to be very happy and that's a pretty wild looking mushroom. I think you could gradually apply more light in time but you certainly don't need to. Great work

Thank you :) No mushrooms in this tank...ever. I believe your referring to the Mummy Eye Chalice. The CC I've had for 6yrs. Last years swap we had a fragging demo, gave away 11, 2-3 head frags. Gonna raise the lights about 2", then I'll bump up the whites gradually.
What she looked like last year!
