Sac-Town 225

Backtracked a little today. The manifold that I recycled had a leak in the side of the pipe. I tried a patch, but *** got worse.
Spent the day building a new one. I did, however, pick up the lumber for the canopy.

Strange looks like I got bleeped.. I guess " the l e a k" is a curse word here :crossedlips:

Anyhow, if anyone is still following here I made a bit of progress on the canopy. Here is todays progress plus a bad edit to show doors on it.

I
made it 22" tall, I hope that gives enough room to figure out a way to move the lights if I need to get in it.

Been a little slow on the build. I have the canopy all cut out and assembled. Put a coat of Kiltz2 and need to get a couple more coats on it. I changed the door pattern to match the stand with 4 doors.

It's almost my birthday so I treated myself to a few fish, Pictures are not too good, I need more skills in the fish photo department. Also a couple coral pics to keep the thread alive during the cycle.

The tank cycle has stabilized. The ammonia/nitrites are now 0.

New problem is that the algae growing on the rocks is BRYOPSIS:mad2:

How did this happen? The rock I used has not been wet for 2.5 years. I guess there is a chance it had it before as I never really paid attention to what was growing on it before in the tub. This is not a patch here and there it is growing on the glass and most every rock in the tank. I am torn between trying Kent Mag and just acid washing this stuff and trying again...

Will the soak in bleach/acid wash route even be guaranteed to work?

I'm thinking I would try the mag, that way you treat the whole system. Would b a bummer to pull all your rock and wash it, only to have it come back in your sand or something?

it's not bryopsis, it's just new tank algae. will go away as your cycle continues.

I think you are right. I picked up 5 Turbos and 3 Certs today, Picture is blurry but you can see the damage the turbo did after 1 hour. Rock is clean. I never had a turbo that would touch the bryopsis in my other tank.

P
ut in an order for a much larger CUC that will be here by the middle of next week.

Still waiting on the pulley system for the light rack. Once I get that installed I will be able to concentrate on getting the corals and fish all situated.

I put in a few fish/corals from the quarantine tank today. a couple quick picks right after they went in so they aren't real happy yet.

I hope the tangs make short order of the hair algae that is still betraying the age of the tank.

Canopy and light rack installed.

I added a 250W to the center to make 3 total plus the VHO.

Sadly I broke one of the VHO bulbs so I need replacements to kick up the Actinic and get the full day/night light cycle programmed. :faint2:

Just a cell phone video. I will try to make a better one for next time.
