Safe, yet proven method of reducing po4?

Even a conch or urchin? Some tanks don't get along with this, especially an overdose. It's a 150+ page thread.

Had a tuxedo urchin, it melted after a few months... I buffed my cuc, literally doubled it. Astreas, turbos, blue and bumblebee hermits, nessars... Plus 2 tiger conches and a sea hare. Sea hare is fat as hell now due to the outbreak.

Did you lose sps Before or After Vibrant treatments began?

But to answer your question, I'd also vote for LC as mentioned by previous poster. Gfo is no good. Leaches iron and iron causes dead corals I don't care what anyone says about it. Especially when you also use aluminum based product like phosban, thinking it will absorb the Gfo. No Bueno.

I've read A LOT on it. Used it for many years. Many years of intermittent sps problems. Lots of Triton ICP testing. When problems happened, lots of Iron in the system. No where for it to come from other than GFO. Then I started using aluminum because they say aluminum will bind the iron from GFO and vice versa. More problems. Then high aluminum and high iron both show up. I'm sure I could dig up the old ICP tests. But since I stopped using those products I stopped having sps problems.

And no one tried to guess my po4 in my photos. I assure you much higher, probably triple what the OP stated his was. I haven't tested in a couple months but... Usually it gets up over 1.0 and I'll use some LC a couple times to bring it down to something reasonable but its a chore. I have a lot of fish and feed a lot.

Live rock also holds and releases po4 so even when I get it down, it just shoots right back up anyway pretty quickly.

I’ve been trying to work on a similar situation. My PO4 is about .5 (down from .7) and my No3 is 0. I neglected my tank for about 3 months, had Macro go asexual, skimmer crapped out on me and it all got jacked up. I’ve been trying for about 3 months now to get things back in sync. I had a lot of SPS die off, burnt tips, no polyp extension on the ones that lived, even some super easy Montis like red cap lost some color and started to look bad. LPS all are fine and look great in fact. My hunch is my SPS all starved with low No3. So I’ve been dosing to get my No3 back up and balance the mixture. They’re still reading as I add more to my dosing but many of the SPS I have left are starting to look better.

That’s my experience so far. I’m not out of the woods but I appear to be on the right track based on SPS polyp extension and no more deaths in a while.

I believe in his build thread he said po4 has been up as high as 1.0

Hey all, had my 125g running for about 6 months, finally got a hannah ULR po4 checker. After 3 tests, this is what I'm getting:

So that equates to about .3 ppm ... if my math is correct.

My aim is .08 ...

My question is,

Chemipure Elite Gold / Blue?
