Salinity not moving...

I'm not a chemist either :) Which is likely why I said mg instead of grams. Ha! Replace everything I said about mg and use grams. You need to add 100grams today and 100 grams tomorrow. 100g is 3.5 ounces. You can take a gallon of water out of the tank (turn off your ato) and dissolve 3.5 ounces of salt into it. Put it back in the tank. Do the same thing tomorrow.
OK...that's dry ounces?...and that much salt added shouldn't have an ill effect on animals already in there?...give me the OK and I'll do it...:)...I'll pour it into the sump...

Does your salt come wet? ;) Yes, that's dry weight. Your 10g tank has just over 1000g of salt in it right now. You are adding an additional 10%. That's not drastic IMO. Add the water back slowly if it makes you feel better.

I know I sound dumb...but I just don't want to lose what I've worked so hard to achieve...Thanks and in it goes...:)

Well its done...one shot seems to have done it...my QT and DT are equal at 1.025...how long should I wait before getting my tailspot out of QT...?...Don't know how it happened but I double checked and that's the number...:)

refractometer...its been accurate all along...
I don't really trust the accuracy since adding half the amount required got you to the end point. Could be testing error or your refractometer is off. When did you last calibrate it?

If you have the calibration fluid you could do it each time. To be honest I don't see them drift much in my experience.

Just calibrated it with distilled water as per the instructions...right at 0...should be accurate...I can only assume that something I said wasn't accurate (sort of catastrophized)...anyhow, for whatever reason, we're on the $...should I wait or transfer in your opinion?

Pick up some calibration fluid next time you are at the LFS. I don't trust calibration to RODI. I don't know about your QT process so I have nothing to add on transferring the fish :)

Not RODI, its steamed distilled water which is what they ask for...I will pick up calibration fluid...what I'm asking is if the water should be OK now to transfer...believe me, I appreciate all of your help...:)

You want to move water from your QT to your DT? I wouldn't.

Not sure I am correct here, just reading through this post and it seems to me that you are planning to add the salt directly to the system?
I hope not, as you must mix the salt till it dissolves and stabilizes before adding it to the aquarium.
If I am reading your post wrong please disregard.

No, I used a gallon of Ro and shook it good and let it sit awhile...seems OK...:) Thanks and welcome to R2R...are you very experienced?...coming from Bluewater, La it would seem that you were born to this...I've been doing fresh for years, but a novice with this and my 10 gal.Fusion is becoming very difficult...

Ok wanted to make sure, glad you weren't putting salt into the tank haha.
Yes I've been in this hobby for a long time, while I've have a little longer than two decades under my belt I don't consider myself an authority on reefing I just love to help others succeed and learn.
My screen name comes from my most favorite past time blue water sport fishing off the coast of Louisiana and other areas as well.
Thanks for the conversation
