Seems many suggesting a better tool for measuring.
I'd just add, get a small kitchen scale(if you don't have one) and weigh your salt when mixing, not measure with cups/etc. You should still test, but unless you made a mistake weighing(forgetting to zero out the container you use for exampe ;D ).. you'll find your salinity is always dead on.
Not to hijack the thread but I have been wondering about weighing over measuring. My question is wouldn't the weight change over time because of the salts ability to absorb moisture? For example, I have a 50l dehumidifier running constantly and is set to 35% humidity, but it never goes below 45% in the room for some reason (my guess window seals, air conditioning, tank, etc. all at once). And I've noticed that the top of my container will begin to clump when I am getting to about half way through my container, so it's absorbing enough moisture even with only being open maybe 1-2 minutes when mixing for my WC and I leave my measuring cup inside to avoid unwanted added moisture. Wouldn't that effect the weight of the salt?
