Saltgator's 240 Build

Well, my chocolate tang must have wedged himself in between PVC and the tank walls, which caused it's death. RIP little buddy.

Always heartbreaking! :(

Just out of curiosity (and ignore this if you want....about to be nosey), was he physically stuck when you had to remove him (i.e. you had to apply some effort to free him), or was it possible he drifted there post mortem in a current and was just "hooked" there by coincidence? Sounds like he was found in a low-flow spot, which is where all currents end up.

It always seems odd to me for a strong swimmer like a tang (or any fish, really) to get stuck somewhere while they are still under their own power. (I.e not sick or otherwise compromised..perhaps from being chased all night)

I assume there was no apparent damage except from the things he was wedged against? Any nighttime predators in the tank like a serpent star or fish, et al? (Even potential ones?)

Matt, your wisdom/questions are welcome. He was facing a mild current. He was about 2.5 inches and wedged between a 6 inch PVC elbow and the wall of the tank. This was my qt, so no predators, just 2 other fish. What caused me to believe the wedge idea, I found him right side up, kinda like he darted here in a panic (scared of a shadow or whatever). You could be right, I've just figured it was dismissed due to the behavior he presented throughout the previous days (eating, swimming, picking all over (normal tang activity IMO). Thanks Matt. Btw, your picture was looked at again last night of the cap colonies. You got me hooked on them again. B-)

Just one of those things with new fish in qt... (which is usually stressful in itself) ...a bummer for sure. :(

I have three large pieces (my three main rocks right now) that I'd love to will to your tank....too big for mine and you'd have awesome M. cap. starts! :)

Thanks Matt, I'm sending you a pm too.:D

Loss the emperor today. Woosaa! The magnificent foxface is getting fatter though. I picked up a Rubbermaid 100g tub today. Going to turn it into a frag pond. Look for updates early 2014.

All y'all north of me, hope y'all are warm. We are solid 80's here!!

No! I'm sorry about the emp. What do you think happen? How do you like your FoxFace. And it was 76 today at 12pm played a round of golf. In the beautiful fl weather.

Sorry about the emperor! But glad to hear about the Foxface.

Day started off at 67 and now it's 37!!!! I like the cool weather so it's all good in my book.

Thanks guys. I think the tang and angel were rough from the get go from their travels. I'll do a broader search next time when I look into them again.

I usually try and order from places with a 14 day guarantee. I've only had one fish arrive that I couldn't get to eat and that didn't make it and I've order about a dozen fish so far.

Yep, I got these local, but usually get a guarantee from online stores. My mistake, not again though.

Water test for 24 hrs. Not too shabby for $40. Was a bait shop's shrimp tank!
