Saltgator's 240 Build

Sold both my ritteri nem and blonde naso this weekend. Already received updated pics/emails on both and both are great.

Vlamingi is/should be sold this weekend. Finally might slow down on the poop deposits, lol. Between the naso and vlamingi, my reef looked like it got crop dusted 24/7.

Really, really considering another angel still. Torn between a emperor and a goldflake. Just don't know what would be the better tank mate for my regal (and clams). We'll see. Not rushing to remove tangs just to add angels, or any fish for that matter.

Good update. What will your reef eat once the crop dusting is gone? Lol.

I say go for the Emperor Angel but I'm partial to them. Slightly biased...

Thanks Ryan. I try updating my thread as often as I can so i have reference points to refer back too. Kinda my log and share, lol.

I love the look on the emperor, just concerned about the clams. Maybe getting a juvenile will help, plus the clams are growing/healthy. Would love to afford a orange tail one.

You mentioned what the reef may feed on once my crop dusting is gone, lol. Been thinking that over myself too. I think adding another angel and possibly 1 smaller tang (chocolate) should get me there. The addition of 2 fish that are not as big as the vlamingi and naso (or at least as big/often as they dust crops) should get me there, but we'll see.

Good point about the Emperor... I completely forgot about your clams and how they may nip at them. I'll have to look into the orange tail, can't say I know what one looks like.

I've cut all my coral feedings and the corals look fine... Makes you wonder what is really in all that stuff they say is "coral food". I'm thinking liquid phosphates.... :caked: One of the members of the reef club asked many coral retailers what they feed their corals and most of them said fish poo!

Yep!! Fish poop is the popular choice. The orange tail emperor just has more vivid color IMO.

Setting up a 250 and following! Curious to see what angel you go with.

Thanks. Still looking at the emperor and goldflake. Haven't made my mind up, really love to have 'em both, so might be considering vodka or another source to have a nice bio load. Having both of those angels would put me at 9 fish (all 3 angels, 2 tangs, 1 blue jaw trigger,1 foxface, 2 clowns), so not sure how (or how much) my system can handle, plus I'd like a pair of wrasses too. Btw, I said 2 tangs, 1 which I'm planning on getting, a chocolate tang, soon.

I don't blame you for wanting both, so awesome in their own rights! I've been debating a Vlamingi, do you still think the bio load would be too much for that tank size if it were to be the only big guy in the tank?

IMO, possibly might be ok. If you had a vlamingi and wrasses, maybe a angel too, you might be fine. I'm sure if i gave up on other fish, the vlamingi would work out. Also remember that they get big, in better ways, can create frags in a sps system. Mine will almost knock off a frag a night on my rack. He just can't help it. I love his personality, but sticks would just be in his way of swimming 8 feet. Because of the mass poop he and my other guys drop (along with my occasionally laziness) I'm going BB to be able to get things into the water column instead of settling in the sand.

I'm so jealous of both of your 8 foot tank talk going on here. LOL

Luckily for me Volitan lives around the corner so I can drool all over his tank and not yours Brad!

Lol. You can come down and drool over all the 8 feet of coraline buildup, lol.

Thanks Ryan.

I enjoy it and when the deal came up, I didn't hesitate. I love the ability that I have the swimming room for almost any fish's needs. My only gripe is the massive euro brace, cleaning (8 feet burns the shoulders), and creating a rock scape (I guess my weirdness kicks in because it has to look almost the same in both ends, same amount of rock utilized)

Yeah I hear ya. I can't imagine cleaning a tank twice the size of what I already have but the dream of having one someday is still there. Next time I'm down in FL I'll be hitting you up for sure.

I might change my mind after we move Volitan's into his house this weekend...

My inlaws live in Florida part time so maybe Ryan and I can carpool down and you'd get two scrapers for the price of one, haha!

Awesome!!! Are you guys in east or west Tennessee? I go up to my father's house (north Carolina / 5 minutes from Cherokee) every summer too.

Nashville. Were right in the middle!!!

Ok. Thanks. Might be a bit to far, but if we're out that way, might hit ya up to see it in person. Always nice seeing a reef you watch on the forum in real life. Might always be able to see if brad paisley, Eric church, or another country artist is playing giving us an excuse to drive, lol.
