Well, just about done pulling sand out, probably 20% left. Pulled sans out last night. Today I checked my numbers (don't fall out of all y'alls chairs):
PO4 via Hanna was: 0.18!!!! It just don't budge, even pulling sand out (basically a water change of 40g per week)
Alk via Hanna was: 151ppm(8.456dkh). Not to bad.
Cal via elos was: 13 drops x 50=650!!! Might shut the doser down for a few days!!! Wow that's high!

I hear ya Brett. Born and lived here all my life. What's the humidity when it's 110 out there? Btw, you have any recommendations on my numbers above?

Your calcium is high as you know. I would start by comparing with another test kit to be sure. when sure just stop dosing Calcium for a while but keep an eye on your alk while you let it fall.
What are you doing for dosing Cal/Alk?

Ha, humidity!! I'll send ya some with mosquitoes too!
Running gfo, but very little. Backed off my feedings too, even went 100% pellets every other day.
I'm using DIY 2 part. Alk: Baking powder (baked 1 hour + @ 350 degrees, 2 cups per gallon), cal: dowflake (2.5 cups per gallon).

Ha, I had a mosquito hit me (yes, he bumped me before he bit me), he was as big as a quarter, no lie. I think they survived extinction!! I mean he needed running lights and a tarmac to land!!
I'll stop the cal for a day or 2 and test.
I'm considering vodka or vinegar. Your still using it right? I think it would also allow me to get my stock (2 more angels, 1 tang, couple wrasses) that I want after the vlamingi goes.
Your regal,lol, is fat-n-happy. Still a model citizen. Wish i knew which (male or female) to pair 'em up (I know that would be awesome).

7ysoon, not sure what page,lol. My filtration is simple. Big ole skimmer (swc 230) wet skimming, gfo from time to time, water changes by siphoning the sump or DT floor, small fuge (5 gallon, but primary use is food), 300 pounds of live rock, tons of flow. Don't hesitate to ask if you can't find something, I'll answer away.

I honestly don't know. A month ago it was 1300. I haven't purchased another mag test yet.
I'm pretty sure why the cal is high (one word........lazy). While dropping the PO4 using no3po4x two weeks ago (last dosing on my part), my alk was 11 and sps had burnt tips. I dropped it, no more burnt tips, but forgot to adjust my cal. I'll test mag @ lfs this weekend just cause. Thanks Ryan.

Thanks Brett. I figured that out the hard way with bio pellets when I ran them. Have you ever tried bio pellets,sugar,or vodka? Or just vinegar? I read today a few threads on each, just not sure. I do know if it ends up being pellets again, it'll be ecobak 100%. Keeping it that low (between 7.5-8 on alk) scares me still, always so close to undesirable numbers.

I run 750mL's of Ecobak and my ALK has been around 9-9.5 dKh lately and things look great! CAL is at 430 and mag at 1300. I also run GFO pretty strong... Don't be too afraid to push those ALK levels up with bio-pellets. Just make sure your cal and mag are inline
