Saltgator's 240 Build

Excellent!

Funny how big tanks make big water changes feel so small. Keep it up!

Wow Matt, you post almost 24/7, ha ha. I appreciate it. Using a garden hose, old Rio pump and 2 x brute trash cans on dollies makes moving and changing pretty easily. All except the floor change going from the garage into the house, it's about a 4 inch difference.

I've been telling myself to buy a brute can on wheels for like 10 years, haha. Someday I'll actually get one

Ha ha, thanks Ryan! It's getting there, t a snail pace but it's forward progress. Ha

Slow and steady is better than no action at all. Plus slower is probably better in this hobby!

How's that Regal of yours doing?

Slowly is always the best in this heat, I mean in this hobby! Sorry, heat index today here is 103 and I'm in it!

Regal is fine. He still buddies with the black tang. The ccb finally showed is disliking about being bullied by the regal. Typical side swimming with his dorsal fins sharply point at the regal.

On another fish note, I'm looking at another tang. I can't decide on which of 3. Chocolate, chevron or white tail. I know I'm gonna be at my limit soon with bio load but gonna be adding a decent size fuge to my system 1st. Probably 50g+ fuge, possibly maybe my 100g livestock vat as a fuge.

Chocolates are quite nice. A guy in our club just got one. You speaking of the white tail bristle tooth?

Yes sir. Didn't like them much till I seen a adult. All reddish orange.

Cool, The white tails are hard to come by. I searched for one for a really long time. Ended up with a blue-eye or twin-spot, whatever you wanna call it.

The chevron's are cool, but lose most of their color when they get large, IIRC.

Yep. I had chevrons before, juveniles. I really don't mind their adult colors, but I already have a black tang. Adding another adult dark colored tang wouldn't get me color though. The white tails are in stock at Pacific east. So tempting and they put a youtube video up too!

Wow.. Can't believe I just went through 37 pages of Saltgator's saga. I loved every post too. I mean I feel Saltgator's pain as he tackled his algae problem, but to me, it seemed all part of the challenge of attempting to bring the beauty and wonder of a live reef for friends and family to enjoy. I want to thank you and all the others who posted for sharing your experiences and giving me a picture of what reef keeping is. I can't wait to get started.

Hey Rollo, I appreciate your post and time in my thread. Don't hesitate to ask anything. We're all 1 big family here

Had a good day today. Picked up a 42 hex or octagon from my mom, turning it into a display fuge but connected to the 240. Spent time with the in laws out on there 10 acres grading land using their tractor. Can't help it but I'm a country boy loving tractors.

Gonna take the fern caulerpa I have and seed the 42. All this after I get a simple hob overflow and a decent return pump. Hopefully this will help with my tang addiction. Btw, I ain't telling but a new tang is on it's way. Stay tuned.
