Hello, anyone have some recommendations? I want large containers to mix and hold saltwater and rodi water in. I have previously used large (new) trashcans and I feel like that isn't safe. Anyone know of a place to commonly get them, like a retailer that sells large storage containers?

That's great! I was looking for like 30-50 gallons or something similar, as long as I can stick a powerhead and a heater in it. I'm just paranoid that it's going to leak stuff into my water, have you used any of those with good results?

Simple setup but, has served me well over the yrs.

I use Brute garbage cans....along with the better majority of the hobby....with no issues at all. I also purchased the dolly wheels which makes moving them around a big plus. I think they are the 32 gallon version...or close to it.

Note the number on the containers are not colored I took a sharpie to make them stand out.

Okay, great. I had the Brute garbage cans and at one point my mixed water started smelling really funny so I got scared lol I could keep the water for my freshwater in a Brute and then get the tractor supply one for my reef. Thank you!!

The smell was more than likely from bacteria.

Uh oh :( That sounds right, because I didn't have a powerhead in there for a while and the water just set. Well I will just give that one away for someone to use as an actual trashcan and then get two new ones for my FW angels. :)

...good luck and post up some pictures of the mixing station if you can.

Thank you! Oh goodness, you won't want to see. This will be a temporary setup with just storage containers until my house is built, and I will have an actually fish room (I will be back asking for help with that set up when the time comes)

Sadly I don't even have a sump, have no experience with anything like that. I still do HOB and slugging buckets :(

Yes. Right container is RO water. The RO water can be pumped to the left container. Where I have a heater and power head to mix salt. When salt is mixed I can pump the salt water to tank.
