I have a 30 gallon tank and the sand on the bottom of the tank and its forming brown stuff is that good or bad and what is it

Is the tank new? If so, that could be brown algae that's part of the cycling. Can you tell us more about your tank?

I have 21 lbs of live rock 2 snowflake clowns 3 green cromis and snails and hermit crabs

Its the Diatom Bloom. It looks nasty but happens in mostly all new tanks. Don't worry though, it will do away by itself.

It's fine, it won't kill your fish and as mentioned above it'll go away with time (provably a month or two) - you added too many fish too quick though - if they die it's because your tank hasn't cycled yet or you've overloaded your tank with too much livestock too quickly and it can't handle their bioload. Do weekly water changes and you'll probably be fine.

No its not dangerous and won't harm your fish. You don't need to do anything different for this stuff, it takes care of itself.

Okay and I use the water that the fish tank kings and what tanked the show uses.

I think you should do some research and reading before just jumping in, so to speak. This hobby is filled with people making silly, avoidable mistakes all because they didn't research beforehand. There are some great articles on starting a saltwater tank, I'm sure there are some here on Reef2Reef. You could also look on YouTube for Mr. Saltwater Tank TV, he has several videos on simple start up stuff like this.

Don't take this the wrong way because many people do the same. But if you didn't know what a diatom bloom was then you're certainly not prepared for what's to come.

Yes, it should. This way you can run carbon if needed after medications.

FishMASTER the tank needed to cycle before fish where added. Anything that say pour and your ready to go is a joke. But on a lighter note, you did do one thing right! you came to reef2reef and started asking questions. You will get great advise on this site. If you have even the smallest question, ask it. There is a LOT of helpful knowledgable people from all over the country right here to help ya out. This hobby can be brutal in the beginning stages.

It sounds to me like some research might be needed here. I definitely recommend at least checking out Mr. Saltwater Tank TV.

The following is a link to his Channel on YouTube. That will be a start. This hobby requires a lot of research. It's not just a "Jump right in & master it" kind of hobby. I've been doing it for 13 Years and to this day I still learn things. I hope this helps you. If not, the kind people on here will gladly assist you. Myself included.
