Salty Adventure

Ok so lets pick up where we left off...2 years ago...:grimacing-face:
What happened? This happened.

Yes , after battling Caulerpa with reef flux followed by Cyano with Chemiclean the dreaded Dino took over my Tank, to be accurate Prorocentrum.
It took me half a year to battle this monster, was about to give up at times but in the end i beat them. The Lesson to be learned here is keep the chemicals away from the tank.
The good news are that after winning this battle i upgraded to a Cade 1800. That's another monster.
Took 6 Guys to bring that up the stairs and i had to reinforce my floor.
Took me a nerv wracking week to prepare the swap over and a whole day to actually do it.
Here are some pictures of the process.

The New Baby is here

All done and no casualties.

The Bonus: I got this little bugger out after all, and off to the LFS he went and into a new home.

I will keep updating the thread in the next few weeks to bring it up to date.

December 2022

The new tank is set up but oh boy is it empty.Didn't loose a fish, nem or coral though.
First thing was order some live rock from my LFS, and whoa was it alive, picked 2 days before it was in my lounge room.
Here are some critters and corals that were on/in it

The new Tank is running, but there are still a few Dinos left. By this time i started dosing Sodium Silicate to promote diatom growth and it worked a treat. Only problem was that i did not test for how much silica is actually in the water, so i overdosed and ended up with a bacterial bloom nearly worse than the dinos themselves.
Luckily the UV took carte of the brown water pretty quick. I lost an Acropora Dallas and thought the Galaxia was gone too.

After the bacterial bloom was over i got anew addition to the family, a Magnificent Foxface.

Meet the parents

So i started breeding Bangaii Cardinals. Since the parents were in the Display Tank, i fished the Fry out whenever they poped up, i figured he released them between 26 and 34 days. Problem was i got a lot of them with Swim bladder problems making them swim upwards in a constant motion.
So after a few month i tried to strip the male after 24 days and put the eggs in a diy tumbler with great success.
The next few batches were 17, 24 and 28 young that survived.

Sadly about 3 month ago i lost the male bangaii, so atm i am raising 2 Fry that i kept of the last batch and i might introduce another 2 to get some breeding pairs going again. The third one in there has the Swim bladder issue but he's just not giving up.
Here are the last 2 Babies in their own tank piggy backed to the Display.
