What's your Galaxia doing? Does it sting everything around?
I also have a nice piece with which I had no problem for a few months, then suddenly gave some very long sweepers like 15-20 cm, which started to sting all around them. I had to insolate it in a corner. :frowning-face:

The galaxea is behaving, the other day my bta landed on her and there was a short war with a clear winner...the bta retreated swift. The longest sweepers I have seen on mine were about 3 cm long, fingers crossed it stays this way. I do feed phyto daily, not sure if that plays a role.

How long did it take your helio to fully extend its tents? I know there’s a lot of factors involved but just generally.

I just got one in my tank today and after the trip boxed up (from liveaquaria) it’s extended 6mm or so in a a few hrs but the tentacles look shriveled. I’ve never had a ltp before so just wondering.
Thanks
bb

Hi bb,
she pretty much came out a couple of hours after placing into the tank, that picture is of her being 2 days in the tank.
She's my first helio too, i bought mine from a local coral shop so only an hour transport. Is yours more inflated now?

Thanks for the reply and yes looks better for sure although I awoke to a cloudy tank too. I haven’t seen cloudy water in months. I wonder if there is a correlation with adding the helio- it’s huge (5” skeleton) and my tank is 20 g. I’m gonna do a 20% WC just to be safe.

Ok, woke up this morning just to see this happening in the tank. She's a mean hungry little button scolly and that was my biggest hermit crab too.

Wow sorry about your hermit….I didn’t realize scollys were that aggressive. My ltp dissolved sadly. That’s why my water was so cloudy… I guess it was damaged in shipping bc I remember there were pieces of flesh in the bag wh I received it.
I took it out my tan asap and did 25% WC. It was Very smelly.

Bummer that helio didn't make it, not sure if it suffered to much in transport but thats the reason i rather buy my corals and fish local( only works if you got a local lfs).
My hermit is fine, she must have been growing coz that was just a shell, dodged a bullet there.
Shes sifting sand happily ever after.

Got some new additions last week, pretty happy with were the tank is now.

So bad news first, i lost my heliofungia, she did get an infection and went downhill all so slow to the bitter end. Learned my lesson, after the torch helio is number two i will never touch again.

Got a nice mini maxi instead and two peppermints to take care of the few spots of aptasia.

Yeah I've been slack with posting updates, the tank has doubled in size too. I'll try to update it this weekend, here is a sneak peak of the new tank
