Sarah's 28g JBJ

Thanks everyone!

The clams are in there because there is something going on in my big tank and these guys are new and haven't been in the big tank yet. If they are on the sandbed they'll stay in there till I feel confident I can add them to my 120g. The one on the rocks is a resident and will stay in there.

The fish just all died one day, I can't explain what happened. Maybe a major PH fluctuation or rise in ammonia, I don't know ether way.

Right now there is a Snowcasso, a misbar Clown, and a Sapphire Damsel in there. The Sapphire Damsel is pretty cool, it is usually dark blue but when it is excited it flash's to black. They are a new type of Damsel and I picked it up in a LFS in Seattle for $7 so pretty spendy for a Damsel. I'm gonna get 2 more to add to the tank, this one seems to be very shy and doesn't have the Damsel attitude.

That is odd that all the fish just died .. did you make any changes to the tank, or did something die that released toxins in the water that caused it maybe? There has to be a reason and IMO finding out what caused it will avoid the same from happening in the future. Did you have any soft corals in there like Kenya Tree or similar, or did you have a Sea Apple, or similar, something that is known to release lots of toxins in the water. Were there may lots of flatworms that died off all at the same time as that would add a lot of toxins as well ... Let us know what you think it could have been ... all the fish dying must have had some reason of course and finding out what it was is IMO important. FWIW

I have the same tank that I am currently stocking with some critters from my 125. Do you have a skimmer on your tank? I bought the LED light tank cover with mine - lots of light!!

The only thing I had die was the fish, nothing in the tank that could have released toxins. I'm thinking a strong PH swing may have been the culprit?

I currently don't have a skimmer on the tank. I've just been keeping up on the water changes. I'm supposed to be getting a free skimmer for the tank but I'm not sure that I'll be putting it on. The tank is located in my bedroom and since I live out in the country and accustomed to little to no noise at night it may make it hard for me to sleep.

I currently have a Current Nova 4 bulb T5 fixture over the tank. It had a Viper 150w clip on MH and I got tired of burning my arms on it plus the light color wasn't agreeable to my eye. I'm a firm believer in T5's and LED's.

The Monti is a Jedi Mind trick, but it's still browned out. I think the Zoa is an Armegedon?

If anyone needs a good domain name : note that Zoanthid.com is apparently available

Zoanthids.com is not

I have an ID from a Z n P vendor from Hawaii, he says they are indeed Hawaiian Ding Dangs.

Lovely name right ... that is one of the issues with that as in some areas Zoas and Palys and even some corals have one name and then in another area they have a different name .. like Birdsnest ... for some that is a Seriatopora but then for others it is an Acropora, guess it can get confusing :-0
