Sawdonkey's 220 Progress Thread

Nice setup. I was little held back by your choice of Emperor in an SPS tank. But I too love to keep Angels, so to each his own poison I guess :)

Some new FTS:

I'm really a huge fan of your minimalist aquascaping and how you have enough resistance to not overstock your fish population as well. A paints a very peaceful, serene image.

I'm curious, in your FTS pictures, the edges seem to drop off significantly with light, almost a spotlight type effect on your tank. Is that a camera effect or do you keep most of your lighting away from the edges of the tank? It looks pretty cool.

Thanks, I'd like to get a few more smaller fish, but I'm just too lazy to set a QT and go through the whole process.

The dark edges could just be due to my corner overflows? The light is spread pretty evenly except where the two crossmembers cast a shadow, and that is fairly obvious (and I hate it).

Yeah, I'm still QTing myself and it's such a pain so I hear ya.

I meant when I look at your photo, I hardly notice the glass on the edges of your FTS. When I look at my photo, you definitely know there's glass on the edges. I'm a total photo newb and don't even have a DSLR so not sure if that was a picture effect or not.

It just might be the simple difference of a black background and how everything just disappears into the background but my pictures just look too overwashed and bright compared to your peaceful lit reef oasis.

I see. I have some space on the ends of my rocks so the rockwork isn't right up against the glass. I just typically frame my shots to the edges of my rockwork and not all the way to the glass.

Oh perfect! I have a frag currently growing out! Now I have something to look forward to! [emoji4]

It's a frustrating coral. In my experience, and others I've read, it takes a frag at least six months or so to show any signs of color. It stays grown until it's a mini-colony or better.

Yeah, that would make sense because it's just a tiny brown ugly thing on a plug right now... So what you're saying is I get to enjoy this for another 6 months first. [emoji22]

Thanks, and it's a long stupid story:

Playing the game Scene It about ten years ago. The visual clue was Saw+Mule+Jack+Sun. The proper answer was Samuel L Jackson, but I blurted out "Sawdonkey Jackson," and my friends didn't let me forget about it for a long time.

I was hoping you were going to say that you are a magician and that was your main attraction was sawing a donkey in half.
