Saying hello to you all

Just dropping in to say hello to everyone after joining the forum.

I joined up to document my change-over and upgrade of my 1st reef. We've currently got an established 90 DT mixed reef with a remote fuge and sump.

It's lightly stocked by most reefing standards, but generally living and ready to expand and fill in after applying what has been learned on our first system.

- We will be moving the reef up to a standard 120 gal (4x2x2) with a new stand.
- The remote fuge will be kept, but heavily modified by replacing the tank for it as well during the upgrade.
- all new plumbing runs for drains, returns, and for the fuge system.
- slight modification of sump and fuge locations inside the remote closet (new through-the-wall location)
- along with everything else that I will be upgrading, replacing, or changing out for re-design reasons after learning on the current system the last few years.

It will be a work in progress to track and watch. But we'll keep it moving forward as we get the ball rolling... the new tank is secured and I'll be looking to work out a new stand before I dive into the build and transfer of it all. But I'll be sure to pop in, update the thread, and discuss the design and build process as it gets going.

Come find the new journal when I kick it off this weekend and join in on the ride. The more the merrier on my little section of reef :)
Welcome, comrade

Thanks everyone for the welcome messages!

I'm really looking forward to moving to the 120 gallon DT! The 90 was such a good deal to buy and was a great tank / system to learn to manage a reef with. Especially since I had the 90DT, 75 fuge, and 30 gallon sump to help with stability as I learned. But I'm definitely ready to apply the last few years of tank management experience to the new design and move my mixed reef to a full thriving tank rather then a partially stocked learning reef.

I'll work on getting an update with a couple shots of the current system for you all soon. I'll warn you thought, the current look of the build of my system is ugly right now as I'm in the process of starting to work towards the change over to the 120. There's lots of stuff everywhere right now as I'm sure you can imagine!!! ... and really nothing is where it will be in the end yet now for the most part.

Basically there's a bit of mess in the remote tank closet right now as I'm 9 days into an AWC-system test. The AWC test is going well though!!! I'm SO excited for that update to be added into the system design. I just couldn't wait for the new set up to be done... that part of the build started now a little early :-) Lots of temporary lines run everywhere until the test is done and I can start to finalize some things. But hey, now my reef tank goes through 2 walls of my home instead of only 1! That's got to count for some improvement points for that, right? ;Happy

I'll be sure to throw a few teaser images in here ASAP for you all to see and then come back drop a link to the new journal thread for the 120 upgrade.
